“You two will be in so much trouble when your Taddy gets home,” Jack told his four-year-old twins. He’d tried disciplining Gareth and Jenna himself, on multiple occasions, but it never seemed to have any effect. They didn’t behave like this when it was Ianto’s day at home, or not that he’d ever heard, but every time Jack was in charge of the Holy Terrors, things like this happened. He was sure they must sense he had no idea how to control them, which was ridiculous when he thought about it. He was the one who’d carried them for almost nine months. He really ought to be better at the whole parenting thing.
The twins didn’t seem the least bit cowed by his own threats of punishment, so reaching for his phone, he called Ianto and put him on speaker.
“Jack, what’s up?”
“The twins.” Jack sighed.
“What did they do this time?”
“They got hold of Meriel’s feather boa and plaited it together with Squiggle and Spot. Now I can’t get the Flufflets untangled, and the Holy Terrors think it’s funny!”
A growl came from the phone; Gareth and Jenna stopped laughing. “You’ve both been very naughty!”
“Sorry, Taddy!”
