A/N: Triple drabble and a half, 350 words.
As Ryo moved to get up off the sofa, he felt a sudden and familiar sting from the half-healed wound in his leg and winced.
“You okay, babe?” Dee asked, always concerned whenever his lover showed signs of discomfort.
Shifting his weight onto his uninjured leg, Ryo smiled reassuringly. “I’m fine. It’s just, now my leg isn’t hurting all the time, I keep forgetting it’s still healing, and I can’t just get up and walk. I mean, I can, I just have to go about it a different way.” He levered himself upright, taking most of his weight on his left leg instead of his right. “It’s the same every time I have to get out of a chair. You’d think by now I’d know better.”
“Y’know, if you want somethin’ you could’a just asked me, since I’m here.”
“I know, but I need to move around to keep my leg from stiffening up. I’ve already been sitting too long, that’s probably why it’s aching a bit now. The doctor recommended gentle exercise, and I don’t think sitting in front of the TV qualifies.”
“Yeah, probably not. So, what’re ya gonna do?”
“Walk around the apartment a bit, I guess. It’s not the most thrilling pastime, but I don’t think I’m quite up to tackling the stairs yet. At least I can stand and look out the window.” Dee had helped Ryo hop his way up the three flights to his apartment after he was discharged from the hospital, and he hadn’t been outside since.
Dee frowned. “Think you’ll be okay goin’ back to work next week?”
“According to the doctor. I mean, I’m getting around fine, it’s just… stairs. Even with a cane, that’ll be tricky.”
“So stay at mine for a while, the kid too. My place had an elevator, and y’know you’re always welcome.” Dee had wanted Ryo to stay at his place from the start, but Ryo had refused because of Bikky.
“I’ll think about it, let you know in a day or two, okay?”
“Fine with me. My door’s always open for you.”
“Thanks, Dee.”
