Willow is not by nature an angry person, she’s always been more the calm voice of reason, and perhaps it’s not fair of her to get angry with Buffy, but she is, and she can’t pretend otherwise. Buffy’s supposed to be her best friend, or at least her best female friend, but she just took off without a word to anyone while Willow was still in the hospital, vanished without a trace, and now… She’s only been back a few days, and it already looks like she intends to do the same thing again.
Maybe later, once she’s calmed down a bit, Willow might feel ashamed of herself for getting mad at Buffy when she doesn’t even really know why her friend left like that, what happened to her, or anything, but right now she can’t even think straight.
She wants to understand, but how can she if Buffy cares so little about their friendship that she’s ready to run away in the middle of her welcome home party, the one her friends put so much effort into planning?
“How could I talk to you when you were avoiding me?” Buffy pleads.
At the back of Willow’s mind, a tiny, accusing voice whispers that Buffy’s right, maybe she’s partly to blame for avoiding her friend, not showing up when Buffy tried to make plans with her, punishing Buffy for not being there when Willow needed someone to talk to about all the big, scary things that were happening in her life, but it didn’t do much to blunt her anger. Friends were supposed to be there for each other no matter what, and Willow had done her best, casting a spell from her hospital bed despite having a concussion. Buffy hadn’t even thanked her. Okay, the spell must have failed, but still…
Does Buffy not understand how worried they’ve been for her? All her friends have every right to be angry with her. The least Buffy could have done was write or phone, just to let them know she was alive and safe, but she didn’t, and that’s not okay.
