Summary: Negotiating with Daleks never really works, but that won’t keep the Doctor from trying.

“YOU ARE THE DOCTOR. YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED!”
“Oh, you can’t do that. See this?” The Doctor waved a handkerchief. “This is a white flag. Well, it’s a handkerchief really, but it’ll do. I’m calling a temporary ceasefire so we can negotiate your surrender.”
“DALEKS DO NOT NEGOTIATE!” A moment’s silence followed, then, as if the Doctor’s words had only just sunk in fully, “DALEKS DO NOT SURRENDER! YOU WILL SURRENDER TO THE MIGHT OF THE DALEKS!”
“You really should try to be more flexible you know. You won’t get anywhere with that attitude. Would you like a jelly baby?”
