“You should be taking things easy,” Owen admonished his wife. “You’re almost seven months pregnant.”
“Oh, hush.” Tosh brushed away her husband’s hands as he tried to guide her over to the sofa, a newer and much more comfortable one than the sagging monstrosity that used to dominate the break area. “I love you, but you’re such a mother hen sometimes. You didn’t fuss over Jack this way when he was pregnant.”
“Yeah, well, he wasn’t my husband, he’s indestructible, and it wasn’t my baby he was expecting.”
“OUR baby,” Tosh corrected firmly. “You don’t have sole ownership, and our child is growing inside my body, not yours.”
“Right, sorry. Never been a dad before. It’s a big deal.”
“It’s my first time too.” Tosh smiled. “I guarantee I’m just as worried as you are, praying nothing goes wrong, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to sit in a corner taking it easy when I have work to do. Besides, my desk chair is much more comfortable than sitting on a sofa I’d need help getting up from.”
“I just want to look after you.”
“And you’ve been wonderful through everything, but I’m fine. Now let me do my job.”
