A/N: Double drabble.
Ianto loved Jack, that wasn’t in question, and he knew Jack loved him, which was also good. What wasn’t so good was Jack when he was behaving like this. Being loved was great, and being fussed over, in moderation, was also welcome on certain occasions, but there were times when the fussing went too far, and Jack went into full-on overprotective mode.
“Jack, I’m fine.”
“You’re not fine; you’re hurt!”
“It’s hardly more than a scratch!”
“But you’re bleeding!”
“This from the man who just came back from the dead after getting impaled on a fence. I think you’ll find most of the blood is yours; getting you off that fence post wasn’t easy.”
“You shouldn’t have even been trying when you’re hurt!”
“I’m a big boy, Jack. I don’t need you protecting me.”
“That’s what you think. I shouldn’t have taken you out in the field.”
“Who else could you take? Owen is technically dead, and a lot more fragile than I am, Gwen’s on her honeymoon, and Tosh’s sprained ankle means she can’t run.”
“I should have gone alone.”
Ianto sighed. “In which case you’d still be dead on a fence with a dangerous alien on the loose.”
