All of time and space was connected; that was why it was so important to prevent interference with timelines. Changing the past, even in small ways, could cause irreparable damage to the future. Preventing a disaster in one place could destroy an entire culture somewhere else, or even prevent it from developing in the first place. Every act of creation or destruction came with consequences for someone or something elsewhere in the universe.
As a Time Lord, the Doctor understood all of that; he’d always done his best to prevent such damaging interference, only this time, he was the cause.
