“Mornin’, Mister Jones,” the mailman greeted cheerfully, entering the tourist office and pulling a bundle of envelopes, held together with a rubber band, from his capacious mailbag.
“Morning, Harry,” Ianto replied, amused as always at the older man’s insistence on addressing him so formally. He’d told Harry countless times to call him Ianto, but Harry always said it wouldn’t be mannerly. “Lovely day for you.”
“That it is.” Harry beamed. “Nice to have a bit o’ sunshine for a change.” He handed Ianto the mail. “Never quite understood how come a tourist office gets so much mail, and addressed to so many people, care of.”
Ianto laughed. “I wonder the same thing myself sometimes. Most of it isn’t interesting though, just bills and circulars. Sometimes we get new leaflets and flyers, or a thank you note from someone we helped. But my boss and my colleagues like having some of their mail delivered here for the sake of convenience, especially anything needing to be signed for.” Even as he said that, Ianto signed the device Harry held out to him and took possession of a package addressed to Jack.
“Makes sense. Have a good day, Mister Jones.”
“You too, Harry.”
