A/N: Double drabble.
Finding a balance between work and life was something all adults struggled with, but Torchwood made it about a thousand times harder because the team was never completely off-duty.
Ianto had lost count of how many times he’d had to cancel plans for an evening out with friends, or Sunday dinner with Rhiannon and her family, thanks to fate deciding it was the perfect moment to bring about the end of the world. Moments like that, telling his colleagues he couldn’t help avert the apocalypse because he had other plans really wasn’t advisable.
Date nights with Jack were hit and miss, with the misses heavily outnumbering the hits, and now, to complicate matters further, Jack had just pulled the rug out from under him by announcing he was pregnant.
“There’s no way we can raise a child and still do our jobs,” Ianto said, sitting down heavily.
Jack placed both hands protectively over his still mostly flat stomach. “What are you saying?”
“That you’re on desk duty until after the birth, and we need to recruit more staff to handle fieldwork. After our baby’s born…” Ianto trailed off, shaking his head. “We’ll figure something out, maybe take turns staying home.”
