Double Drabble: Safe Driver

Summary: Jack considers himself a very safe driver.

A/N: Double drabble.
Jack honestly doesn’t understand why his team complain about the way he drives. They’re Torchwood, protecting the city of Cardiff, and by extension the whole world, from the objects and creatures that get sucked through the Rift. They can’t afford to hesitate; they need to get where they’re going as fast as possible. It’s why the SUV is equipped with flashing lights, to warn other motorists and pedestrians to get out of the way.
Okay, so much of what the Rift dumps on them is junk, but they can’t know that until they get a look at it. Explosives, weapons, vicious monsters, and aliens intent on invasion are equally likely, and being too slow to deal with them could prove catastrophic.
What does it matter if he exceeds the speed limits? Emergency vehicles are exempt, and the SUV counts, even if the local police don’t seem to think so. Besides, Jack has never actually hit a pedestrian, he has far better reflexes than twenty-first century humans, and the only times he’s crashed there have been extenuating circumstances. Potholes are lethal, the council should take better care of the roads, and that was a stupid place to put a wall anyway.
