Jack stared gloomily out at another grey, frosty morning. “I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some spring weather.”
“I thought you liked frosty mornings.” Ianto plumped up the pillows and straightened the bedcovers.
“I like frosty mornings when the sun’s shining and everywhere’s sparkling, not when there’s a thick fog. It’s gloomy and depressing.”
“I sort of like it.” Wandering over, Ianto peered out into the swirling mist. “Makes everywhere look creepy and mysterious. Anything could be lurking, waiting to jump out and grab the unwary.” So saying, he grabbed Jack’s arse and gave it a squeeze, making his lover yelp.
“Don’t do that!”
“I thought it was funny.”
“You, Ianto Jones, have a warped sense of humour!” Jack accused.
“Don’t tell me the great Captain Jack Harkness is scared of the fog.”
“No, I just have a healthy respect for the things that hide in it. Like you said, anything could be out there; Weevils, Hoix…”
“This from the man who habitually throws himself headlong into danger without a second thought.”
“I’m not worried for myself; I’ll come back, but it makes our job that much harder when we can’t see what we’re fighting.”
“Fair point.”
