A/N: Double drabble.
The zombies are gone; they didn’t leave, they just vanished. Joyce can only assume Buffy had something to do with that and she’s relieved, in a guilty sort of way. Her daughter, the Vampire Slayer, home at last and already having to fight the forces of evil. It isn’t fair, but if Buffy hadn’t been here who knows what might have happened?
Most of the party guests have gone as well, the ones that didn’t run for the hills when the zombies showed up quietly slipping away now the battle is over. Joyce doesn’t blame them; if it weren’t her home she’d be tempted to leave too. The place looks like a bomb hit it.
She studies the devastation with a growing sense of horror. Furniture has been overturned, crockery smashed, food trampled into the flooring… All that would be bad enough, but to cap it all, half the windows have been smashed, the glass crunching underfoot as Buffy and her friends, plus a few others, pick their way across the floors.
“Nothing says Welcome Home like a zombie horde,” Buffy says dryly. “Sorry about the mess.”
Joyce brushes it off. “Don’t be. You’re home, that’s all I care about.”
