“Cardiff’s suburbs are supposed to be safe!” Jack grumbled when Ianto pulled up across the street from the SUV, where Jack was waiting on the pavement, making sure to stay at a safe distance from the problem at hand. “Or at least anywhere that isn’t Splott.”
“I don’t know why you couldn’t deal with it yourself.” Ianto shoved the door open, nearly hitting Jack, who was standing too close.
Jack pouted. “You know how I feel about them! They’ve got beady eyes and sharp teeth!”
“So do Weevils, but I don’t see you hiding from them. Where exactly is this vicious monster?”
“Under the SUV, on the passenger side rear wheel.”
“How do you know that if you daren’t go near it?”
“I can see perfectly well from over here; I have very good eyesight!”
“Fine, I suppose I’d better save you from your nemesis.” Reaching into his car, Ianto got out a pair of gardening gloves and strode across the street, where he knelt down to peer under the SUV. When he stood up again, he was clutching a small squirrel, which he deposited in a nearby garden. “There, the SUV is squirrel free.”
Jack beamed. “My brave hero!”
