There was nothing like a complex puzzle to get the old brain cells stirring, and the Doctor had never met a puzzle he couldn’t solve, because he happened to be exceptionally clever. He’d got to the bottom of unsolvable mysteries on more worlds than he could remember, could beat every chess master who ever lived, had never lost at poker, and when it came to breaking codes, there was no one better.
This, however, was a puzzle even his brilliant brain might not be able to find the solution to.
“The clues make no sense!”
Cryptic crosswords had him beat.
