“You’re lucky,” Tosh tells Ianto one night, catching her friend looking up at Jack’s office and smiling as she’s getting ready to leave work, late as usual.
“Hm?” Ianto pulls his attention back to where it’s supposed to be; he and Tosh had been discussing their plans for the evening. “Why d’you say that?”
“Well…” Tosh smiles, she doesn’t want Ianto taking this the wrong way; she’s not trying to guilt him, but now she’s started she’ll have to finish what she was saying. “You’ve found true love twice while most of us are lucky if we find it even once, and some of us never find it at all.” She isn’t jealous of Ianto, she’s happy for him, but maybe she envies him, just a tiny bit.
Ianto considers her words before nodding. “You’re right, I am very lucky. When I… lost Lisa, I thought that was it, my life was over, but Jack helped me put the pieces back together, showed me I could start again, that life was still worth living.”
“I’m glad. You deserve to be loved.”
Ianto hugs his friend. “So do you; never forget that. Someday you’ll find your special someone.”
“I hope so.”
