Sitting in his car at an intersection, waiting impatiently for the light to change to green, Dee reflected that it was a lot like his situation with Ryo. Practically since they’d met, he’d been waiting as patiently as possible for his gorgeous partner to change his mind about taking their relationship to the next level and give him a green light. So far, his waiting had been in vain.
The lights changed, the car in front of him pulled away, and Dee shifted into gear, easing his foot down on the accelerator and following smoothly.
“Yeah, right,” he muttered to himself as he shifted up and changed lanes to make a left at the next intersection. “Only Ryo’s lights must be broken ‘cause all I ever get is the stop signal. Hell, I still haven’t gotten outta first gear with him! He keeps stallin’.”
It was a frustrating situation, and there didn’t seem to be any way out, like he’d run into a dead-end. In a way, he supposed he had.
“I could give him the ride of his life if he’d only let me. He doesn’t know what he’s missin’ out on!”
And that was when the idea of offering his partner a test drive hit him. After all, how could Ryo know whether Dee was what he wanted if he never had the chance to get behind the wheel? Ryo was the sensible, practical kind; he wouldn’t buy a car without taking it for a spin first, checking to see how it handled, kicking the tires, and popping the hood for a look at the engine. He’d want to know what he was getting for his money. Same principle applied to relationships: Try before you buy.
First chance he got, he’d make Ryo an offer he couldn’t refuse.
