Basketball was more than a game to Bikky; it was a way of life. Even before he got into college on a basketball scholarship he’d worked as hard at the sport that was his greatest passion as he had at his schoolwork.
He’d needed to maintain decent grades in his classes in order to be eligible for the school team, but basketball was everything, and he’d been determined that nothing would stand in the way of his chance at fulfilling his dream of playing professionally.
For some, sport was a means to an end, a way of becoming rich and famous, but Bikky didn’t care about that. To him, playing basketball was as essential as the air he breathed.
He’d worked hard and played hard all through high school, and now here he was at college, putting in the hours once more. His academic grades were never going to see him at the top of the class but nevertheless he threw himself into his chosen subjects, never missing a lecture. He was never late for training either, seeing it as part of his reward for the long hours of study.
When he took to the court he was truly alive.
