Summary: Ianto gets a letter that leaves him less than impressed.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Torchwood didn’t get a lot of mail, and most of what they were sent was official, either from the palace, in which case it was hand-delivered by courier, or from the government, Torchwood Two, or UNIT, most of which came through the regular mail, addressed to the Tourist Office, Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay.
This letter, while bearing their cover address, also had Ianto’s name on it, neatly handwritten, so instead of taking it down to Jack with the circulars and junk mail, because Jack always liked to see what was on offer, Ianto slit the envelope open, pulled out a sheet of stiff paper, read it through twice, then headed downstairs to Jack’s office.
Seeing Ianto with a small stack of glossy, colourful leaflets, Jack grinned.
“Anything interesting?”
“Junk mostly, and this.” Ianto brandished the letter. “Seems UNIT wants to recruit me. They think I’m wasted here and that I’ll be far more useful working for them.”
“Really.”
“Yep! They say I’d be a valuable asset, so they’re offering three weeks’ paid vacation a year, and a salary package that amounts to about half of what I earn here.”
“That’s insulting!”
“I know!”
“They’ve got no idea what you’re worth.”
