Ignoring Jack and the rest of the team completely, the visiting alien delegation bowed low before Ianto.
“Holy One, you honour us with your presence, we did not expect to be greeted by such a revered personage as yourself. Had we known, we would have brought gifts,” the leader said through the translation unit all the visitors wore around their necks.
“Play along,” Jack hissed in Ianto’s ear.
“Ah, that’s quite alright,” Ianto said, bowing slightly in return. “It’s a pleasure to meet you all. Welcome to earth. If you’d follow Captain Harkness here to the meeting room, we can be seated in comfort while we discuss the reasons for your visit.”
“As you command, oh Holy One.”
The five members of the delegation bowed again and obediently followed Jack to the boardroom, Owen and Gwen tagging along behind them.
“What do you think that was about?” Tosh asked as soon as the aliens were beyond hearing range.
“I don’t have a clue,” Ianto admitted, “but I think I’d better see what we have on these people in our database. I don’t want to cause offence. You go ahead, I’ll be there in a minute.”
“Yes, Holy One,” Tosh teased.
