A/N: Double drabble.
The best part of visiting other worlds was getting the opportunity to explore. Since Jack and Ianto made their living transporting cargo from planet to planet, oftentimes they remained in orbit at their destinations, docking with space stations and carrying out all business aboard them. Only when they visited newly settled colony worlds, or places with busy spaceports, could they take their ship or a shuttlecraft down to the surface, and once they were there… Well, it only made sense to see the sights.
That was what they were doing on Esclaploon, where according to Jack there were forests that sang. They’d bought food and bottles of fruit juice, rented a small vehicle, sort of a solar-powered hovercraft, and left Ploon, the capital city, heading for the nearest wilderness area. Within a couple of hours they’d been weaving between the trees, listening to the leaves chime and the wind playing melodies as it passed through tubes in the trunks, bored by native creature that were a bizarre cross between lizards and beetles.
“What d’you think?” asked Jack.
They were sitting beside a spring, enjoying their picnic.
“It’s beautiful.”
“The universe is full of wonders. I want to show you everything.”
