Cool! I think I recognize the speakers. My parents have the same ones on their main stereo, except your may be the 15 inch version instead of 12 inch.
Enjoy the HDTV! Even without Blu-Ray, DVDs will look much better on the widescreen set if hooked up via component cables and the 16 by 9 setting on the DVD player used.
I've had those speakers a long time, I think I got them around 1990 or so. They do the job well and I see no reason to get rid of them.
All connections are routed through my Onkyo receiver. Connections between the xbox 360 and the DVD player are HDMI, and HDMI from the receiver to the TV. The receiver also processes and up-converts s-video and component video inputs and outputs digitally on the HDMI out, it's really great.
I started to say "circa 1990" because that's when my parents got their stereo (quite a good one for the price they paid). Funny -- Fritz has speakers on his porch that are identical to the ones I had on my stereo that I used from December 1985 to some point in 1989. They're still like new and somewhere in my parents' storage building
