I understand the reasoning behind having passwords. I also understand the reasoning for having a screening system to ensure people don't choose the names of their children or pets or their birthdays. However, rejecting 9 of of 10 of my randomly made up passwords because they aren't "strong enough" doesn't help anything. When I finally make up ( Read more... )

I get annoyed at my work's system too - if you are really so worried about secure passwords, why is the MAX LENGTH so short??? *sigh* And the screening will still let by some passwords that won't then be valid for other programs.

Id say find a system and stick with it. And 1337 5p34k 's one great use besides license plates is making stronger passwords easier. :P

I agree. Forcing password changes every 30 days is incredibly annoying and forces writing them down.
