I'm missing the part where there's any summer, but I spotted the rain.

I decided to spork one of the gems that fomalhaut48 had in her Ouran seasons summary sporks (alliteration FTW lol)

(Spork in bold)

Summer Rain
Summary:
It was the last time that he'd see him, In the summer rain. HikaruKaoru. Yaoi. Fluff. Character Death.

Man oh man, this was great! I loved all the things about the "Japanese non-Marines" and all, thank you! Oh, and I'm honored my spork has inspired you. I should spork one of my own stories now...

Glad you liked :) It was actually quite amusing to spork (because it was short lol).

As for being inspirded [sic] well, the summaries that you sporked had me itching to spork them. I might do more if they catch my eye and I have the time. This one was so easy to spork though because, seriously, it failed in so many ways.

I think the non-Marines are awesome, I want one of my own *grins* They're especially cool because they don't care if you're a)gay or b) sexin' up your own twin and c)PDA's are cool. Not that I have a twin, but it shows how lovely and open minded they are. lol.

You totally should spork one, not the wall-o-text though...dear god, I couldn't stomach that one even though it was so ripe for the sporking.

I actually read a couple of those and suffered so serious brain damage that I don't think I will... by sporking my own stories, I meant one that I wrote. That will be fun :)

Ohhhh. Well, you're definitely braver than me if you're gonna attempt one that you wrote. I keep thinking about one of the first fics I wrote and cringing. Even the edit of it, that fixed most of the grammar and huge paragraph issues, still had a bunch of blazing gary-stus plus emo-kid almighty. *sighs* Although, I was actually attempting to write an X-men fic based on their possible next-gen and show how it's a fine line between hero and villain. I think it fell short of doing what I was attempting to. lol.

I doubt I'd be able to find the lulz in sporking my own work and if anyone else sporked it then I'd probably cry. Fragile ego is fragile lol.

The title gave me a bit of recognitory jolt (new word?) so I went and looked it up. Sure enough, from Belinda Carlisle's 'Summer Rain':

I remember the rain pouring down
And we poured our hearts out
As the train pulled out
I can see my baby
Waving from the train
It was last time that I saw him
In the summer rain.

That always bugs me a bit. Put some effort into it, people, don't just drag in chunks of someone else's efforts and let on like it's all your own doing!

But I guess effort is the key word there, isn't it? :sighs:

ahhhhhh, I suspect that's what the lyrics were at the top of their fic then, I completely scrolled passed the lyrics that they put on it
>.< damn my innoculations against song fic lol. I should go back and read because I don't remember seeing a song credit.

ETA: Yup, that's the song listed but they definitely don't credit it or say in the disclaimer that it's not theirs.

I've used a song as inspiration for a fic, but the fic was never that blatant and I always said where the inspiration came from.

And yeah, the day that badfic authors start putting in the effort will be the sad day when we have nothing to spork. Um, keep up the bad work? lol

"Fluff" and "character death" in one summary? :|

I know! lol. Well, I guess the kissing and dancing where the fluff bits, even though they were both angsty and crying.

Also, I now know why they used the Marines angle after going back and reading the uncredited lyrics at the beginning of the fic (that I totally scrolled past because I have immunity) and it says in it that it's a 'military train'. Reading over the lyrics though, I can't believe how much of it they've just used in the fic, the only original idea in it is the interest in Japanese costume stores. Which makes the badfic fail even worse (if you're gonna apply a song to a fandom then at least pic a fandom that it fits with).

Do the Marines let foreigners join up? o0; And that's definitely not how they inform the families when a soldier dies.

I dunno, I'd have doubted so. Also, that train would have a long journey lol.

I somehow didn't think it would be how they did notifications.

This fic fails so many different ways for such a short fic, it's almost impressive...almost. lol

Yeah, really. >>;
"Hey there! This is an old photo of you and your brother. That means he's dead. Have a nice day!"

lol. I don't know anyone in the military but I would take a good guess that they wouldn't do that. If it was a friend sending it then they'd make a point to come to his house with it. Although, an old picture doesn't necessarily mean he's dead, so...gah fail fail fail. Yeah, I'm curious now about the reviews, I hadn't looked before.

I'm no expert, but I heard somewhere that if someone dies in the marines they send either the person's superior to the family's house, or they send a friend of theirs in the marines. Either that or someone volunteers? EITHER WAY someone goes to the house to tell the family in person. From what I've heard anyway.

I could be wrong though
