Self insert fics seem to be on the rise at the pit. I recently looked at the "Death Note" section and was surprised, if not shocked, that almost every story on the first page was a self insert fic. Even when I filtered for M rated stories, it was the same.

Is there even such a thing as a good self insert fic? I've never read one, since I treat them like "OC" warnings and run like hell.

Hehe. You can't go a micro-second without hitting an OC fic in the MLP fandom. The amount of important background characters (and the ease with which you might make your own character) make it open season. Hi ho, Mary Sues!

I imagine a 'good' self insert fic would be if you armed yourself with a host of weapons, made yourself on par with Chuck Norris and stepped into the Twilight series.

Then you'd have a good self insert. But that's about all I can think of.
