[Things seemed to be back to normal this week. No weird little animal/monsters, so sinking ship...just the manor. As though one could say the manor itself was normal...perhaps she could make it a little more normal ( Read more... )

[Well, Hayato was going about his usual morning routine like a zombie. He stumbled into kitchen, in his pajamas consisting solely of his pajama pants and his dog-tag necklace he hadn't bothered taking off before he went to bed the previous evening. He's also got his toothbrush hanging out of the side of his mouth. Such a graceful creature he is in the morning.

Much to his surprise there was someone else in the kitchen. Usually he made and effort to get up kind of early so he wouldn't run into anyone. But now... there was a lady in the kitchen. If he was awake enough to ACTUALLY THINK he would have instantly turned around and high-tailed it back to his room.

However, he was still half-asleep... so he just groggily stood there... half naked... toothbrush in his mouth... just STARING.]

[She heard him enter the kitchen. It wasn't like he was even trying to hide the fact, not stumbling around like he was. Continuing what she was doing, she didn't make any motion to acknowledge he'd entered, letting him think he was being quiet for a little while longer.

The staring though...she could feel it boring into the back of her head. Unable to take it any longer, she grabbed a clean plate and set it on the counter beside her. If he was here, he may as well eat while it was still hot. Hell, it wasn't like she could eat all of this by herself. Never turning to see him, she couldn't keep an amused note from her tone.]

Are you going to eat or just stare all day?

[He snaps out of his little daze and slinks into the kitchen, grumbling as he stuffs the toothbrush into his pocket. He puts on a pot of coffee, and heads over to the cabinets to forage for something to eat, after all he assumed everything she cooked was for someone she knew.

He adjusts the few sticks of dynamite in the waistband of his pants, so they won't fall as he reaches up for can of ravioli. Yup, cold ravioli out of a can, and coffee. Breakfast of champions.]

[She didn't make any move to turn to him, not until she seemingly snubbed everything she made for a can of cold ravioli. Ravioli was hardly suitable for breakfast...if he insisted though, it wouldn't be too much trouble to make some fresh for him.

Turning to him, she put a hand on her waist as she leveled a stare at him. There was hardly any health value to the cans...and if she didn't permit her own sons eating such things for breakfast, there was no way she way going to permit someone his age if she could help it.]

If you want that I'll make you some fresh, but heaven help you if you open that can.

[Kaoru had been up and about early, he kind of missed his little teddy friend slightly, after all it was the closest thing he had to a close friend here. So for now he was making his way to the kitchen playing with his biscuits that he had in his room from before.

Placing the biscuit in the mouth he nibbled on it slightly before looking up when he reached the kitchen door. He stood there biscuit in his mouth as he watched someone cook.]

I didn't think anyone was up at this time.

[Glancing back as she heard someone behind her, she offered a kind smile to the newcomer. She figured people would miss the little monsters...even hers was kind of lovable. Kind of.

Grabbing a clean plate, she set it on the table in case he decided he wanted more than what looked to be a cold biscuit.]

I hope you don't object.

It's fine, I guess even after being here so long, I'm not use to seeing people around here so early in the morning.

[Yawning slightly, he had continued to nibble his biscuit, making his way over to the fridge to see what kind of drink he could get. Wondering about his choices, he ended up taking out the orange juice as he went to get a glass.]

What brings you to be up early anyway?

I couldn't sleep and thought I'd make breakfast for whoever wanted it.

[It was better than just walking, at least she was being productive. Turning to him, something he said sparked her interest. He didn't look like he could be more than sixteen or seventeen...]

Just how long have you been here?

[Silently, he came in the kitchen. It wasn't deliberate, it's just the way he moved naturally now. He came in and perched on the side that she wasn't working at, a small smile on his lips. He loved watching her bake and cook when he was little, and seeing her happy made him happy, even if the scene was a little saddening to watch - a reminder of what he'd missed growing up.

and honestly? he couldn't help be a little jealous of everyone else here at that moment. He'd always held her baking for him at the core of his heart. Sammy had been too young to eat it, so her baking had made him feel that little bit special - he'd been a four-year old kid, he couldn't help it. Now, everyone else gets that experience, and he has to miss out.

but he was the sort of person to squash that selfish side, and just focus oh her happy.

so for now, he was quite content to sit and watch her in silence with his small smile, just bask in the fact it was almost like home the way it should have been.

[Glancing up as Dean perched on the counter, Mary didn't think anything of him not being able to eat anything, she was just enjoying his company. Right now, things just felt right...herself cooking for the house, as she was prone to do, and her eldest watching her as she did, albeit older than what she was used to. This was probably the closest that she'd get to normal here, that any of them would get to normal.

Smiling, she turned back to what she was doing, wanting to carry on with this charade before the manor decided to mess with them some more.]

Good morning, Dean. [About to offer him something to eat, she faltered. Right...vampire.] Is there anything I can get for you? I know you can't eat any of this, but...perhaps something in the fridge?

[Truth be told, she didn't look at all the food in the kitchen, but it seemed to have the ingredients for most dishes. For all she knew, he had a packet of blood hidden around here somewhere. Or so she hoped. She tried not to think about how he'd been feeding, part of her not wanting to ( ... )

[He shook his head] I'm fine, thanks. [He didn't like to think about how he fed either. and he knew there was no way to welch on his deal with Cas, ultimately Cas was better for it overall.]

I heard humming, and just thought I'd come see what you were doing. [Completely not mentioning the fact that he'd heard it from the top of the house. He was much too content with this almost normal to ruin it by mentioning that.]

If you're sure. [At least she could still believe for a little while longer that he was human and not cursed. As for Cas? She still wasn't sure what she thought of him.]

I'm glad you did. I've got to admit, it's lonely down here in the mornings. [At least during the afternoon and evening, there were a few people coming in and out of the room...most of them eating things that made her want to force them into a chair and make them a proper meal. That was part of the reason she got up early. The kids (even the ones older than herself) deserved at least one proper meal.]

[A wild Black Jack enters! Doing up the buttons on his cuffs, he stops momentarily, noticing all the breakfasty things on the table]

You made all this?

[Adding a plate of bacon to the table, she remembered he liked coffee. Smiling, she nodded as she went to start the coffee maker.]

Yes. I've never cooked for a household of this volume though...but if I didn't make enough, I can always make something fresh for any stragglers.

[He smiles; it all looked really good, and (without meaning to be sexist) it was nice having someone else cook for him again, if only this once.]

It's commendable to have enough patience to do so - I know not everyone here will be as thankful to you as they should

It's fine, as long as one person is happy then it's worth it.

[Setting the plate to the side, she turned the fire off on the stove. If things went well enough, she'd try to cook for the manor more than this once.]

I'm just glad that there's something that I can do here. Half the time, I don't know what to do with myself...my kids don't need me as much as they once did, and even some of the children here are self reliant.
