Teru Mikami ~15~ Protection [Accidental Video / In Person]

Jun 30, 2011 10:49

[Unseen by the camera Mikami has been flailing (metaphorically, of course) in a serious way about suddenly having to take care of a child. Thankfully his kid wasn't one of the active kind.
Being a father was nothing Mikami knew about. He didn't even remember his own father and his mothers was a faraway memory that he's locked somewhere deep down in ( Read more... )

[Kaoru remembered this story from when he was very little and before he could... well torture the work with Hikaru. Shamefully the feed gave out before Kaoru really had a chance to listen.]

You reading to the kid?

[Mikami turns to look at the video, the boy on his lap seeming half-asleep]

Yes, I figured it'd help him sleep.

[Or something like that. Sadly the law doesn't tell you how to raise a kid and the law is all Mikami really has been studying in his adult life]

It's one of those nice stories commoners tell children, so it works in some way.

Commoners?
I wasn't aware that fairytales are limited to persons of a certain social status.
[Which could also be, because Mikami doesn't care for fairytales at all in first place]

[Guess who's also listening in? And is a bit disappointed when the feed cuts out.

Oh, well! Surely if he just asks nicely, you'll let him keep listening!]

Hey, what happens next?

[Mikami is a bit surprised to hear that someone is actually interested in such a common fairytale. ]

Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't realize this has been broadcasted...
You can keep listening if you want.
[Mikami is trying very hard not to think about the weirdness of the situation too much]

[Mukuro had been rather contently wandering about the manor. He liked it here. He could go outside. People gave him real food, not kind he got through needles. He was ready to tear apart yet another room in exploration, when he hears someone talking. Curiously he wanders in and starts listening to the story. The longer the story goes on, he tentatively gets closer... and closer... until he's plopped himself down in front of Mikami.

The gesture was sweet enough, but the fact that the child has a stitched in eye and his little scrubs are covered in dried blood probably lessens that to a degree.]

[As the child clearly came in to listen, Mikami decided it was better not to stop in his monotone reading of the story.
Out of the corner of his eyes, Mikami sees the odd details of Mukuro's appearance though and they worry him. What was wrong with this person?
Mikami had stopped to expect natural explanations. It was useless. In the end everything would be twice as messed up as he'd thought it was possible anyway.]

[Mukuro smiles as he listens, he didn't understand a lot of the story, he had never been outside after all, though he did let out a little gasp when the old couple took a knife to cut the peach (not that he knew what a "peach" was).

He hung on every word of the story, and had a big smile by the end of the story.]

I want to be like Momotaro! I'm going to beat all the bad men and ogres too!

[There was something off about this, Mikami practically felt it. He didn't direct his eyes at the dried blood for a second time, but he was far from forgetting the existence.
The man was sure he'd have to be careful with this conversation]

That's a high goal.

[You hear that sniffling sound? You'd probably think it was a little kid or something, but no... it's a full grown man. Vash is nearly at the verge of tears.]

That's such a touching story.. *sniff* B-but... but what happens after that?! *sniffle* the transmission cut out...

[Mikami is a bit confused at that emotional reaction]

The book is here in the library, if you want to read it...

Awww, Momotaro's a good one.

Pinoko really likes that one... and Pinnochio too! [The irony was not all lost on doll-like Pinoko, who was "born" under circumstance most unusual herself.]

Mishter, you make a good daddy.

Thank you.
Even though I would've preferred to find out under different circumstances.
[Which would've been never. Having a family wasn't on Mikami's schedule.]
