[Have a nice view of the ceiling for about five seconds before the camera violently rotates as something knocks the blackberry off balance. At the same time, Near's face flashes across the screen for less than a quarter of a second. His eyes are closed even as he is sailing offscreen. The boy lands first with a single, abrupt "OOF!" followed by the

Okay I'll be right there!
[And in a few minutes there's a little knocking]
Mr. Near! I'm hear! I'm here!

To avoid tl;dr, let's just say that Near's room basically resembles something of a mix between Toys R Us and Santa's workshop. His latest interest is origami though, and those colorful, paper critters are EVERYWHERE.
Well, Near was sensible enough to sweep out a single clear path that led from the door to his closet. He will not risk the child stepping on any of his creations. He gestures at the trail towards his closet.]
The supplies are in there.

[[L's ...not so sure he didn't just see what could have been the weirdest thing he's ever seen in his li-- no, not his life. He's seen a lot of weird things but. That. Looked. Slightly like himself. ...Alright well.
Then.
He notices that, thankfully, there's something else to concentrate on. But the white locks from behind that mask-- why are his successors all so eccentric? Why can't they be eccentric just like him. He picks up the device as a message for him comes in, pressing properly to switch to that transmission.
Ah.
Near.]]
[Audio/Unhackable etc]
[[He knows full well Near prefers to - well hide out - and he's become a little more accustom to moving around the manor without being TOO Paranoid, not that it helps with B running around somewhere at random. His voice is flat, though even as always.]]
I am free at the moment. Which room are you staying in? I dislike the idea of looking at each name plate, I will come to you.

[That would be a "thank you for taking the time to speak with me" as well as a "THANK GOD YOU DIDN'T MAKE ME GO OUTSIDE."]

[[He leaves it at that and shuts down their communications. He slips away his communicator and makes his way slowly through the hallways. He's not a content man out in the open himself, but at least in this instance he's already been known by most of the veteran residents. Apparently it's bad, but what's that to him? Ghosts of someone he has no recollection of.
L's slow shufflings make his way through halls, past doors that he'd like to creep past but tries to just remain as invisible as a human body can walking visibly down the hallway. Anyone he passes is met with a passive glance and a deadpan lineface.
He stops at Near's door, his foot brushing over the other one in its shoe'y tomb. He hates shoes. Wearing them seems like a pointless thing around here, but never know when you're going to need them.
Knock? Never.
He picks his communicator out and plucks a few things into it sending Near a text. Private, encrypted and all such.]]
Open the door.

Welcome to Near's room L. It is basically scattered with all sorts of random toys, some appear store-bought while others are clearly handmade. In the absence of new toys, Near has resorted to making his own. His room has basically started to turn into something of a Santa's workshop, complete with twenty-something handmade tops, a 2 x 2 meter jigsaw puzzle (propped against the side wall so as not to take up too much space), and several origami critters along with stacks of yet-to-be-corrupted sheets of paper.]
Welcome, L.
[Strange indeed, to be calling someone L without the mockery and derision he was so used to when addressing Kira by the same title back home. Stranger even more to actually be in the same room as him, seeing him in person, confirming that the rumors of his appearance had ( ... )

He will remember this, and probably dream about it.
And as he starts recording his response he is still caught in his mirth, laughing around a mouthful of chocolate - in fact he doesn't even say anything else. Just laughs.
In your face - literally]

Yeah, fuck you.]
If that's the best you can come up with, I must say I'm unimpressed.
[Near hurries back to feed stalking. So much to stalk. So little time. And he does not need your sass right now, kthx.]

No wait. The cherry on top is that it was YOU, Near.]
A bit uncoordinated are we? Maybe if you practiced standing - or hell, moving would be a good start.

Correction. It was the Author's doing.
[Now go away, Mello. He wishes you were this inclined to chat when he had, oh, I don't know, actually wanted you to, you crazy, bipolar blond.]
Now if you don't mind, I'm busy.

Yeah. Over this, or in person? [He'd prefer option two, seeing as he doesn't know you.]

This will be fine.
[Sorry, good sir, but antisocial, paranoid Near only meets those he trusts or wants package delivery from.]
Obviously I am a resident here as well. It has come to my attention that you, Mister Winchester, have recently managed to strike a deal with the Author. I would like to know. How did you manage to contact with her?

Between that and the fact you were not speaking face-to-face, distrust has gone from 80%-ish to 100%. prepare yourself for guarded answers in future.]

[Well, that was annoying. The Author was once again acting in a way inconsistent with Near's suspicions. He hadn't been able to get through all of last week's feeds in the mere one hour he had, not without multiple, simultaneous screenings anyway. It would have been physically impossible. Therefore, he could only pick out the bits and pieces that seemed most important. All he knew now was that the Author had took over this man's will sometime during the past week and supplied him a car in exchange, so Near could only rely on assumptions, and the kid has a bad habit of considering all of his assumptions to be truth until proven otherwise.
Yes, he can tell Dean's offended, but if Near wasted energy caring about each time he offended someone, he would never get anything done. He continues speaking as if he hadn't noticed a thing.]
Have you ever managed to interact with her in any way, through any medium?

The map I received from you has been very helpful, and you have my gratitude. Unfortunately, a substantial amount of people has left the manor and even more have moved in since the 11th of April. I would therefore like to request an updated version of the map. However, it's not necessary to trace out the entire manor and its grounds a second time if nothing has changed since then, unless you prefer to do so anyway.
I would do this myself, but I'm not as skilled an artist as you.

( ^-^ This is why Leo likes Near - he gives him purpose~)

It appears that the force field surrounding this place has recently fallen as well, or at least expanded in scope. If you are ever feeling bored or in want of exploration and discovery [Oooh, now doesn't that sound like FUN, Leo?], I recommend documenting the outside as an extended project you may take on at your leisure. You might find something interesting.
[Near does not ask Leonardo to scout the entire world outside the manor directly, of course. The people were of much more interest to him at this point anyway. Besides, until the world expansion lasts longer than a week, perhaps even two, Near has no reason to believe that it will be a permanent fixture. And as random as the Author's choices and actions have been so far, Near's positive she would never let them truly wander free anyway.]
