Page Twelve || Can't decide if I'm happy or not [Video/In person]

[The feed clicks on to reveal an appropriately concerned looking Light Yagami appearing to navigate the darkened hallway aided by the white glow of his Blackberry screen, which has been refashioned as a makeshift flashlight; at least until a suitable alternative has been found.

Of course, for the most part the concern is a façade. Light all too ( Read more... )

Misa who?

[Light sees little point in responding to this text. He sees even less of a point when he sees the name of the sender. If the name isn't familiar to Hiiro, then Light fails to see how providing a last name will provide further illumination on the subject of Misa's presence or absence at the Manor.

Besides, she wouldn't introduce herself as Amane, anyway. The girl made sure everyone knew her given name, because she kept referring to herself in the third person-- probably out of some misguided conception that it was "cute." So, if the name isn't familiar, then the more appropriate request would be a description of her physical appearance... and as this isn't the request Hiiro is making, Light is quite certain that Hiiro Yui will prove to be a waste of time. He replies if only to be proven right.]

Amane. Misa Amane.

It's too bad we didn't know sooner, Light-kun, you could have stayed with her and witnessed someone leaving.

[[Enjoy his sympathy, that's as close as it gets.]]

[Light has no interest this either. He knows better than to assume that any "sympathy" from L is actual sympathy. It doesn't ever cross his mind that this could even be interpreted as such; instead it's filed away under the category of mockery. He grits his teeth in annoyance, before seeking a happy place. This time it comes to him in the form of information assymetry. Light has already seen a few people come and leave. The Misa prior to this one, had disappeared too, but as that isn't information L needs to know about, he keeps it quiet.]

Is this your idea of comfort, Ryuuzaki?

[Audio/Private]-[Unhackable] LOL Light caught the sarcasm. thumbonmylip May 6 2011, 04:05:33 UTC
Comfort? That's not like you.
You're not in need of comfort, Light-kun, it's an observation. I've yet to find live-video of someone leaving.

[Audio/Private] Of course he did! Even if L wasn't being sarcastic, he'd have assumed it anyway finalarbiter May 13 2011, 01:50:55 UTC
[Temptation is telling Light to hang up, and carry on as usual. Perhaps he could blame it on faulty reception. So what if the electricity flickering on and off would have no effect on wireless communication devices? Everything that didn't make sense here could be blamed on the Author anyway. However, he remains on the line.]

Then what do I need, Ryuzaki if not comfort by your analysis? [Never mind the fact that Light a) agrees that he doesn't need comfort, and b) wouldn't seek it from L of all people.] Surely, you 're not implying that I should be happy that Misa has gone?

As for the video of someone leaving, I can't say that I've seen one either. People seem to just disappear without a trace.

No, sorry I don't think I've seen someone by that name.

[As expected, more or less. It had been worth a try. Light gives Oz a half smile in thanks.]

I see. I just wasn't sure if perhaps she was trapped somewhere in the Manor without her Blackberry. She's... ah, she has blonde hair, usually worn up in bunches, a little shorter than you, and wears what we call 'gothic lolita' style of dress. If you see her, please let me know.

I'll keep an eye out, but don't expect any good news.

[Light hadn't been expecting any news. This is nothing more than a formality to perpetuate the image he had been forced to adopt, due to the aforementioned disappearing girl.]

I appreciate it. Be careful around the Manor, Vessalius. Whatever plot the Author has going can't possibly stay this benign forever. I don't want to hear about any more missing people.

She left? [A risk less. And also an ally less. Mikami doesn't know wether he is relieved or not.]
I'm sorry. [The condolences are for the public naturally. Mikami knows the truth about that relationship after all]

[He nods solemnly.]

Yes, I believe so. I can't seem to find her anywhere.

[Not that he had been able to search very well considering the lighting situation at the Manor. A drawn out sigh, equally false in sentiment.]

For the best, I should think.

[Which... it is and it isn't. One less liability that's for certain. Light has no idea what Near, L, or even B might have tried with regards to Misa. Of course he would have preferred for himself to go home over Misa, but predictably, the Author isn't so compliant.]

Thank you for your concern, Mikami-san.

Yes, we should congratulate anybody who doesn't have to go through this anymore.
[Simply keeping up a polite conversation. They were supposed to be on a friendly, but not too close, basis after all. If Mikami is truthful with himself though (which he isn't), very deep down he needs to talk to Light some more. To remind himself what he is fighting for. Teru hasn't been dealing well with this and the previous event. In his case 'not dealing well' meant that he was the same as always just a bit more... robotic. Burying everything deeper, deeper and deeper. Not a healthy method of coping with tension, but he'd never do anything else]
How have you been?

Misa's gone?

[He sighs, it was a shame, and a blessing. She was nice to him even though he had fucked up so bad during body-swap week]

It's probably for the better I guess... Nothing bad will probably happen to her back home. I should... take out the trap system in her room...

It looks like it.

[Light's tone is tired. He's relieved that Misa is gone, but at the same time, it's frustrating. How the hell is Misa managing to escape? It strikes him as incredibly biased. Is it for good behavior? For being female? He wants there to be a pattern to this, because then it wouldn't be complete nonsense, but at the same time, it's the Author; Stupid, arbitrary teenage girl. There's no reason for her actions, she just acts. Light wants nothing more than to watch her convulse on the floor in the throes of a fatal myocardial infarction.]

...You're right about her being safer at home though. B can't get to her there. [A sigh.]

I suppose I never mentioned that I did appreciate what you did.

[He's still not quite saying that he does.]

I-

[Wait, did he just THANK him!? Hayato was used to a lot of things but gratitude was never one of them... Hayato just remains looking shocked for a moment before he tries to enforce the use of words again]

I... um... well.. it's just...

[He shakes his head trying to pull himself together. He looks away and rubs the back of his neck awkwardly]

It's nothing... It was my own fault anyway...
