[Since arriving in space, Leonardo hadn't known what to do with himself - there was so much to study! So many sketches to make, so much information to learn! Taking a brief break from his studies and investigations, the polymath entered the kitchen to make himself something to eat-
Only to come across much more than he expected.]

[Malone seems to be hanging by his knees from the stair railing]
Is it delicious and moist? [he gets a sour, disapproving look like he's been fooled too many times before] ...it's not a lie, is it?

I believe so - it certainly looks good!
[Oblivious to the picture on the front of the cake, Leonardo has already taken numerous photo's of it on his blackberry]
..How can a cake be a lie?

I've had baked goods promised before, and been denied. If I get there and find that the cake is a lie, I'm going to shake my fist very sternly at you. [he giggles like he's just told a hilarious joke]

Well, I can assure you this is all real - look, see?
[Holding up a cupcake, to the camera]

Would you like something to drink? Some cake perhaps~?
[He's already on his second cupcake]

[her worries and nerves forgotten, she smiles at him]
My three favourite things in life. Thank you.
And happy birthday, darling.

It is my pleasure, la mia donna - I'm so glad to get to enjoy your company as well
[Like the charming child that he is, Leonardo's smile quickly broadens into a grin as he looks around at the decorations]
Grazie~! To tell you the truth, I'd actually completely lost track of time! So this is truly a pleasant surprise

[Interesting that the Author celebrates birthdays. He'll have to make note of that in his list of "Things the Author Does and Doesn't in Terms of Interfering with the Residents' Lives." Yes, it's a long title. No, he does not intend to shorten it.]
Would you mind bringing some cake to my room? [And for extra incentive.] I have something interesting to show you.

Grazie, amico~!
Of course I will - though now I'm curious to see what it is you have to show me!

[At the same door he was requested to visit when Near first arrived, Leonardo knocks happily, a piece of cake on a plate in hand. Feel flattered, Near - you're getting the Mona Lisa's left shoulder!]

It goes around in two small circles first before finally making its way back to Near, who shuts off the annoying device.]
Hmm, still needs work.

[You bet he's looking. Anything with sugar he'll go for as long as it's not green and blue cakes with gold has his attention.]

As do I~! I had completely forgotten about it, so I'm glad the Author did at least!
[He blinks, and looks around]
The 'Mona Lisa'? What is that~?
Reply
That one. It's one of my favorites!
[Although back home, he put a big blue mustache and goatee on it because he knew the painting was a forgery and marked it as such just to spite the curators for their egregious mistake as passing it off as the real deal.]

[That sounds mighty fine to him 8Dd]
Well, it certainly looks good, no~? Would you like some? I've put off cutting it up, but I suppose it would be a waste not to enjoy it
