I doubt I have anything new to add to your research, unless somehow we're from different years, which I doubt.

I will note that I have reason to suspect there might be some "supernatural" activity on our world, even if it is incredibly rare.

I have a certain classmate who claims to be a witch. Certain tricks of hers have so far defied all attempts of mine at taking them apart; and one, while it might have a less extemporaneous explanation, blows it to such a ridiculous extreme that it's hard to cite as such with a straight face.
If I had the remains of that bokken here, I'd happily let you try to puzzle through the teethmarks on it.
