Summary: He always thought applying eyeliner would be easy… but then when have things ever been easy for Joel when Benji’s around?

“Oh for fucks sake!” Joel exclaimed, throwing the eyeliner pencil into the sink, gripping the porcelain edge tightly enough to turn his knuckles white. He narrowed his eyes, staring at his reflection, a stubborn set to his jaw as he blinked back the tears pricking them, one eye starting to turn bloodshot; the eyeliner blotchy and awkward.

Shaking his head, he leaned forward, resting his forehead against the mirror.

“Joel?” Benji called out quietly as he entered the room, frowning when Joel didn’t acknowledge him. “Joel?” he asked again, moving to stand behind Joel, one hand on the small of his back, willing him to lift his head, to turn around. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Joel ground out.

“Doesn’t look like nothing,” Benji pointed out gently. “What’s wrong?”

Joel sniffed, losing his battle against his tears of frustration. “I just… He sighed, lifting his head to meet Benji’s eyes in the mirror before turning to face him. “All I wanted was to put eyeliner on,” he laughed dryly, self-deprecatingly. “I thought it would go well for Halloween. You make it look so easy, but… Looks like I fucked it up big time.”

Benji nodded. “Looks like you did,” he agreed, biting back a giggle at the despondent look on Joel’s face. “You wanna hand with that?” He offered, reaching past Joel and picking the pencil out of the sink.

“Um…” Joel bit down on his lower lip, shrugging one shoulder before nodding. “Yes, please.”

“Come on, lets take this into the kitchen - the light’s better in there.” He thought out loud, pulling makeup remover and cotton wool out of the bathroom cupboard. He grabbed Joel’s hand, tugged him out of the bathroom and into the kitchen. “Up,” Benji instructed, pointing to the kitchen side.

Joel raised an eyebrow at his twin, shaking his head slightly in amusement but hopped up to sit on the edge of the counter. He cocked his head to one side, watching Benji moisten the cotton wool pad with the makeup remover, wrinkling his nose at the smell.

Pushing Joel’s knees apart with his hands, Benji stepped between his spread legs, lifting his head back, tilting his face slightly into the light. “Hold still,” he murmured, placing the edge of the cotton pad to his eye, pressing gently as he wiped the eyeliner off.

Blinking, Joel whined softly, knocking Benji’s hand away and turning his head to the side. “Benj…”

“I know its not nice,” Benji agreed. “But we’re nearly done getting it off. Trust me?”

“I do,” Joel sighed, setting his jaw and letting Benji angle his face again, swiftly and skilfully removing the remaining eyeliner.

“There,” Benji declared. He threw the soiled cotton pad into the bin and ran a face cloth under the cold tap, wetting it then handing it to Joel to wash off, giggling as he patted him dry with a soft towel.

Joel’s own laughter bubbled up and he snatched the towel out of Benji’s hands, snapping it at his ass before throwing it over his head. “Thanks,” he said dryly.

“Anytime!“ Benji giggled, sticking his tongue out at Joel and dropping the towel to the floor. Both boys winced when Cashdogg darted out from under the table and attacked the towel, chewing one corner of it and dragging it out of the room. “Whoops!” Benji had the blush to grace despite his giggles. “Um… I’ll think of something to tell Mom later,” he decided, turning his attention back to Joel. He pulled the eyeliner pencil from his pocket. “Ready to reapply?”

Joel nodded, his expression turning serious once more. “Yeah.”

“Ok.” Benji stepped back between Joel’s legs, again angling his face into the light. “Ok,” he repeated half under his breath, tongue poking out from between his lips as he concentrated on ringing Joel’s eye with a thin line of kohl. “Hmm…” He frowned lightly, placing the pencil between his teeth, biting down on it as he leaned closer to Joel; their noses all but touching as he smudged the line perfectly with his index finger. “That one’s done,” Benji heard himself whisper, looking up to find Joel staring at him intently. A shiver ran through him and he plucked the pencil from his lips, swallowing heavily, forcing himself to break the gaze. “Now for the other one.”

Turning Joel’s head to get the right angle for the light, Benji held his cheek in the palm of his hand as he slowly ringed his other eye; the pencil dropping from shaky fingers to the counter as he leaned in to smudge it, wetting the tip of his finger first. “Done,” he informed Joel, taking a step back, gasping as Joel’s legs wrapped around his waist. “You want to see?” He stammered, his breath catching in his throat.

“No,” Joel breathed, his hand reaching out for Benji’s wrist. “That’s not what I want.”

Benji stepped closer to Joel, his hands on his brother’s waist. “Well what do you want?” He murmured, his breath ghosting over Joel’s lips.

“I…” Joel paused and shook his head, closing the gap between them, pressing his lips against Benji’s. “I want you,” he admitted softly, deepening the kiss when Benji didn’t protest; his tongue demanding entrance to Benji’s mouth, his head spinning when Benji’s lips parted. “Ben?” He pulled back, meeting Benji’s eyes.

Benji nodded and simply smiled at Joel, pressing his lips back to his twin’s.
