The Sunday Wibble

So, according to the scales I've remained the same weight for three weeks now. I know it's because I'm building up muscle with walking. I know I'm slimming down because of how my clothes are fitting, because I'm able to get into jeans I've not been able to for a while. But its so fucking disheartening putting in all this effort, SEEING results and ( Read more... )

It's not about numbers on a machine, it's about how awesome you look. Plus, it's entirely waaaaay better to have good muscle tone than it is to weigh nothing. And if you think about it, if you have stayed the same weight for three weeks, and you've seen so much of a change in both your strength and your figure... muscle weighs more than fat, so really, you must have made one hell of a difference to have built more muscle and still be the same weight. So well done you, and don't be silly about the numbers!

If the scales are disheartening, maybe you should measure your progress in a different way? Take photos every week in the same outfit? Tape measure round your waist? The problem obviously isn't you, it's the metrics you're using!

*hugs*

Don't be disappointed -- it's not (only) about what the scale shows, it's very much about you feel. And you already know it, muscle weighs more, so building up muscle makes you sort of gain weight instead. It's gonna start falling soon, don't worry.

As for this:
also, if you happen to know who the girl in the first pic is, please let me know? cheers!

Isn't that Christina Aguilera?

Quit looking at those numbers! You JOGGED! for goodness sake. Your pic look great. Hide that f**kin' scale for a couple weeks. *HUGS & SMISHES*

Accentuate the positive & all that good stuff.

well hell, you know that I know what you're going through right now... but here's my words of wisdom...

Last week when I weighed in at the gym after 4 weeks of staying off the scales I had lost 6 pounds but more importantly as the gym uses scales with full fat monitors etc I had actually lost 9 pounds of fat since the last weigh in. The gym instructor/sadist told me that it is important for the muscle mass to build as that will help to burn fat long term.

How clothes fit is a better indicator than what the scales say anyway. Weigh yourself every 2 or 4 weeks on the same day, at the same time, wearing the same clothes to get a true indication and this allows better for your bodies natural fluctuations (can you tell that I've had the same pep talk from the sadist??)

Remember how on top of the world you were yesterday after jogging???? Focus on how that made you feel. Kick the scales to the kerb for a couple of weeks and build yourself up *big hugs*

And that last photo of the boys *sigh*
