11. Genre - do you prefer certain genres of fic when you’re writing? What kind do you tend to write most?
I think it's easy to classify most of what I read and write as "romance." There are certainly other elements from time to time, but there is probably always an underlying romantic element.

12. Have you ever attempted an “adaptation” fic of a ( Read more... )

Are you Florencia7 who wrote "before we sleep"? That's one of my favorite fanfics. I'm not even kidding!

Hey. Its Shannon. This might be slightly weird but I wanted to ask you about your motivation for this blog. Is it a kind of stress buster or a purpose unto itself. I teach a course on mass media at a local college and blogging is a huge part of the curriculum. I have to pick a few business oriented ones to direct my students to. That being said I couldn't not include you in this little survey. :) I love your blog. It's not the kind I'm looking for for a bunch of teenagers taking Econ and Business studies but I think your enthusiasm for all your fandoms has me coming back every time. Got any tips I could share with my class?

Hmmm. Well, I first created my livejournal account back in 2006 because I wanted to interact with other people who were in my (then) fandom: Prison Break. At the time, LJ was where it was at. There was tons of interaction from ficcing to meta-ing to just general gushing about our mutual love for our favorite characters.

As time went on and I embraced more fandoms, those interactions were still my main motivation, but I also just have the need to *fangirl* from time to time. I went through a phase where I would post pictures of Ian Somerhalder, because, you know, HE'S SO BEAUTIFUL. I pick up the occasional meme nowadays because LJ is mostly dead. There is hardly any interaction anymore, but I still enjoy it. I guess now it's more just for me to reminisce or think about why I've written fanfic for almost 15 years.

*shrugs*

I don't know if that's what you were looking for, but that's what I've got! :D

Yes this was helpful. Very helpful. From what I understand personal interaction is key to a good blog. It helps you reach out to people as a person rather than a faceless corporation.

Maybe I'll direct some of my favorite students to your blog. I know for a fact that a couple of them love Ian.

I'm actually considering getting an LJ account just because of all the great fanfic writers I can interact with. We actually had, what was essentially, a fanfic of Jane Eyre as part of my syllabus when I got my Degree in eng lit. It's called 'Wide Sargasso Sea' It was a kind of prequel written by a carribean author that got published by penguin. Its so well written its actually better than the original.
