You know, I'm gonna confess something here. I'm pretty disappointed overall with TVD-D/E fanfic because I'm picky and while there are some good ones, there's very few OMG!Great ones. I gotta tell you ... this is turning out to be an OMG!Great one. And I'm unreasonably irritated with you because linsell_farm is going to be SO disappointed with what I come up with because this is so good. I'm really, really enjoying the heck out of this. You've captured so many aspects of Damon and Elena that I absolutely love. IT. IS. AWESOME.

More please!

For once, I'm going to disagree with you, Arabian. I do not think for an instant that I will be disappointed with your fanfic.

I do agree with your last line, though ... More please!

Well, I can see that coming from you--as deeply as you think about everything--some of the *quick fix* fics I've seen out there aren't that good. I've found for myself, that as I've gotten to know the characters better--which strangely happens when you write them--it makes it harder to make them do certain things ( ... )

I'm hoping that Arabian will see this, as it's for both of you.

The reason I bid on the two of you is due to your knowledge of the characters and how much I have enjoyed your writing in the past.

I have been generally disappointed in the DE fanfic that I've come across (due to my Virgo pickiness). When I read a story, I want to be captured and brought into it. Exploring the character traits is a sure way to do that and you both are adept at that technique.

Letting the characters drive the plot shows the depth of knowledge and intuition you have for them in the first place and is something to take credit for, IMHO.

I love the way you both bring out interesting details in the characters and the way you bring them alive in your stories.

I hope that the Damons & Elenas in your minds don't do any permanent damage. That certainly wasn't my intention when I entered into this.

One last thing, a heartfelt thank you for all the work you are putting into these stories.

Seeing this updated has made the wait for tonight's show a little easier... Excellent update. I'm loving the push and pull here... Damon is such a complex character. I think it's great where you're taking him. Five hours, six minutes, and twenty seconds to go! :D

Oh thanks. It really is more like him taking me there, but I'm glad it entertained you, and made the wait a little less interminable!

So many levels of AWESOMENESS!!!!! linsell_farm April 7 2011, 19:31:45 UTC
Good heavens, Candy, your writing plays my heartstrings like a virtuoso musician. You have reduced me to a puddle of emotional goo on my living room floor.

This part was just all kinds of WONDERFUL!!

because he needs a fucking metaphor of a brick wall to line up between him and his brother's girlfriend

Powerful, amazing way to open this chapter.

Damon just wants it to be him and Elena all. the. time. Forever.

GAH! So very DAMON.

Damon laughs, laughs until he bends over at the waist.
When he regains control of himself, he says to Ric, "You could say that," and just leaves it at that.

I love that Damon reacted this way. It feels right that he would just lose it with Ric.

"How in the hell do you expect me to keep 'Lena up here with this information? Fuck, Ric, this is-"

I love it when he refers to her as 'Lena. It just feels intimate, and appropriate in these circumstances as he's just so concerned about how this will affect her.

It’s not like Damon’s not used to people saying things to him he doesn’t want to hear, ( ... )

You have no idea how much of this I had NOTHING to do with. Honestly. This horse ride was supposed to be more of them agreeing to be together, and Damon just would not do it. It freaked me out, because I had to reconfigure the whole end of the story to accommodate all his issues!

The last part is about half finished now--so hopefully I'll be able to post it next week some time. I'm glad that so much of it resonated with you, as well as bringing you your favorite pairing with all of their baggage! They are wearing me out, let me tell ya!

The scene between Damon and Ric, though? Made me sure that I like writing the two of them together the most. I mean, of course I love D&E, but D&R are just so much fun. :D

OMG THIS CHAPTER JUST GAAAH!! O_O

You capture Damon so, soo poignantly it's like you picked the character apart until you've dicovered everY knook and cranny and put it all on paper in the lovliest way <33 Long story short, your Damon voice is PERFECTION lol =p

Damon just wants it to be him and Elena all. the. time. Forever. Them, fighting, laughing, singing Queen, riding horses, watching stupid television shows that should have been canceled sooner than they actually were, and-really the capper on the whole thing-them fucking until they can’t move, and neither of them cares if Klaus has wiped all of Mystic Falls County off the map or not.

I loved this because it convey's Damon's romanticism and his utter devotion to the product of his love so beautifully. I find that people often forget, despite his cynacism and his morally ambiguous ways, just how downright romantic the guy is--I mean it was either an eternity with Katherine or nothing for him back in 1864 (and he was even willing to forgive her if she could live up to that ( ... )

I do think that is one of the many things I love about Damon, but that is so OBVIOUS to me, while also be overlooked by most everyone in his life. His romanticism is off the charts--and really, the scene in "Rose" when he tells her he loves her--and how here he sort of tries to mimic it in some ways--is like the most romantic thing ever to me.

I don't know if you ever watched LOST, but one of the most romantic moments in that whole series for me is one where one character jumps out of a helicopter for the woman he loves. Knowing that Ian has based his performance as Damon off of that character makes me certain that Damon is as recklessly romantic as Sawyer, and it makes me *SWOON ( ... )

Oh, yay. Yes, yes, yes to all of your first paragraph. Needless to say, this fic reflects all of those sentiments.

I love Bonnie, but when I knew someone had to die for the completion of Elena's transformation here, it was obvious it had to be Bonnie. She's the only one who could die and not destroy Elena (Stefan or Jeremy would be too much), but that could reinforce the direction she was already headed with her feelings for Damon.

It ended up being much grayer, and much more complex than I originally envisioned, but it's been a fun dynamic to explore. The last part should get posted tomorrow! Thank goodness.

Thanks for commenting! (And again, for that other fic. I still have *hearts in my eyes* :D)
