Hot chocolate =/= cafe latte

Sep 09, 2011 19:42

On any other day, this probably wouldn't have bothered me so much. But I had been running just a little late to work, then my train got in ten minutes late and I missed my bus, I had a client waiting at work when I got in who needed to be out by a certain time and I hadn't had breakfast. You know, just one of those days ( Read more... )

*fast food, mcwank, maybe they were zombies, all kinds of sad faces, it's only bad service if you die

They fixed it without giving you a hard time about it. While it sucks that you corrected it initially and the mistake was still made, I don't think mistakes alone necessarily are bad service.

I think it can constitute as b_s when you have to repeat a simple order four times to get it right. It wasn't even like the OP ordered one thing then changed their mind, but they ordered the hot chocolate from the get go, and they still got it wrong.

There was an obvious communication breakdown that was remedied easily without complaint.

I know, it's only bad service if I die. As I stated to begin with, usually wouldn't bother me but I'd already been having a really bad day and this was just the cherry on top of the crap pile. It still sucked, I was stuffed around for nearly half an hour and then had cold food because of the wait. Not the end of the world, but not exactly fantastic either.

I fail to see the bad service in this one.

They fixed the mistake without complaint. How is that a bad thing?

I would be a bit put off too, if I repeated what I wanted four or five times and the restaurant still got it wrong. It's definitely a lot more understandable when the server isn't a native English-speaker, but still frustrating, especially on a day that's already going badly.

And by four or five times you mean two.

1. when the OP ordered for the first time
2. when they double-checked with the cashier
3. when they told the woman that the receipt was wrong
4. when they told the person delivering the drink

As the first commented said, mistakes don't immediately translate to bad service, esp if corrected w/o a fuss. Tbh, this isn't too sucky and they corrected the order,so I don't really understand why this warranted three paragraphs. I tend to give fast food places a little leeway because they're so packed always, the employees have to juggle a lot of orders.

And really, the part about the accents was rather gratuitous.

The part about the accents was to explain why I had difficulty communicating/understanding the employees. Usually not an issue, but speaking quickly and mumbling a bit on top of having a strong accent? I was a bit lost. The argument between the three of them also didn't help my confusion.

In the end, a usually less than ten minute round trip took almost half an hour(most of my lunch break), only to get to eat practically cold food. On top of an already bad day, this sucked.

Meh. I hate it when customers get cranky because I misheard them, or made a mistake. Mistakes are only bad when they can't be fixed. I'm human.

I don't necessarily think it's BAD bad service, but certainly irritating and a bit WTF-y. "latte" and "hot chocolate" don't really sound the same. I've had McDonalds people mistake the phrase "two hamburgers" for "two cheeseburgers." I'm not entirely sure how, since hamburgers don't have the hard CH sound. Does it irritate me? Oh yes. Have I complained? No, because the place I had problems with now has the little windows on the cash registers so you can see what's being rung up. I keep an eye on that, and if it's wrong, I correct them ("Oh, wait, that's supposed to be two HAMBURGERS." "Oh! Sorry!") and go on my way.

I get why people are kind of jumping on the OP and saying "LOL not bad service u noob" but I don't think it's necessary for them to do so past the first comment.

See? That's the thing that confused me the most. Hot chocolate does not even remotely sound like cafe latte. We don't have screens that show your order back to you, they only exist for drive thru. When I thought he said latte I reiterated hot chocolate to which he gave an affirmative answer, imagine my surprise when on the reciept it was incorrect. If that hadn't happened and the order had been corrected the first time I wouldn't have been frustrated about the whole situation. It was just a day of everything going wrong and by that point I was pretty fed up. I had to laugh or I was gonna cry.
