This happened early last year. This was the first iPod I broke. I dropped it on the floor. Straight after doing that I noticed that all my music sounded completely and utterly different.
So I made the mistake of taking it to the shop I bought it from. Mostly to see what was wrong with it and if it was fixable, I didn't care if they fixed it.

But if you're not, then why didn't you just tell them (if you were pretty sure the headphone jack was broken, as you repeatedly said) that you thought the headphone jack was broken and if they could fix it and how much it would cost?

If I know my headlight is out, I don't keep taking it somewhere until they figure out my headlight it out. I say Hey my headlight is out, how much is it to fix/replace it.
