coffee suck

Edited: It was not my intention to come off as one of those entitled people who lose their mind over coffee. I just like it strong,  to avoid long wait times (I know the workers do not have control over this at times.) and nothing fancy.

So. I live in a small town. We've gotten large enough to get a freestanding Starbucks (previously only the ( Read more... )

I used to work in Starbucks, albeit briefly... lattes and cappuchinos both traditionally have foam (sorry if you already know this!), lattes are about 20% foam and cappuchinos are like... 60-80%? I can't really remember. Just ask for less foam, it's not difficult for the barista to do and they won't be angry. :) They are just making them the way they are supposed to be made.

I'm part time at McDonalds now, and the machine seems to make the lattes and cappuchinos with way less foam. It's weird to me. Plus, if there is syrup, you have to stir it, which breaks up the bubbles and foam. :|

in a venti cup, there should not be litterally two full INCHES* of foam on a latte. and believe me, my addiction to coffee is such that I've drunk a lot of starbucks venti lattes over the years and i have NEVER had an issue with the foam in their lattes until this past winter at this particular establishment.

*yes I got a ruler as my boss lady giggled about how i couldn't win.

XD Someone probably just got a little heavy handed with the steamer. If it's the same person or one person taught all the new people... yeah you get a bunch of wrongly made stuff. ~_~ I've been doing that at my new job. I was taught wrongly by a lot of lazy people when the good managers were gone.

It's just demoralizing to take a sip and realize that it's all foam :(

O_o maybe you should consider laying off the coffee altogether. It seems to have made you a bit oversensitive.

.. Buh?

Where am i being over sensitive? I am aware of the lady at the window giving me a nasty look when i check my drink, and when the perky girls at the other shop give me looks when I ask for more espresso.

Yeah, I actually used to get those weird looks too (but from Starbucks when I used to go) whenever I asked for a total of six shots in my iced caramel latte drink. I work at a 24/7 coffeeshop now and... it's not uncommon for people to ask for an extra shot in our house specials that already come with four shots. I pretty much love it because I totally understand it.

Btw, hey tauren!

Except for the part of ordering something and then demanding extra. If the OP is paying for more espresso, then cool. If not...

lol why on earth would i expect free espresso? When I ask for more shots I fully expect to be charged for them, that's the point of me asking for more.

I like the alternative shop, but their brew just makes me think of coffee flavored milk. hence asking for more espresso.

Hey, if you're paying for all 6 shots then I have no problem. You didn't specify in your post, so I was just speculating. Drink whatever the fuck you want. When I was a barista we would get a morning regular who got an 8-shot Americano. We had our own thoughts about it, but we never once gave him shit for it (which is probably why he kept coming back).

"I like to get it moderatly faster than not"

Mmm. This part bothered me. You sound just a bit...entitled.

Yea, to me too... Comes across as 'I will say it in this toned down way but what I really mean is I want my fucking coffee within one goddamn minute and if I don't get it I will be grumpy at my server'

I'm sure the OP doesn't mean this and probably isn't even like this but maybe me being a retail slave for ages has made me over-perceptive to the attitude or something

That's what I thought when I read it too. But, I totally admit that is the 'former barista who dealt with way too many cranky coffee people' in me.

6 shots espresso!? Jesus man, cut back a little. That shit ain't good for your heart.

This coming from the person with a cup of tea/coffee on at all times, every damn day!

Don't I know it, but it's hard not to ask for more when i take a sip of what tastes like milk (and looks like it too. o.o;;)

it's also why I brew my own. Plus I can't afford to go out to coffee shops every day. that stuff is reserved for a "man, I am just dragging along today." type of day.
