OMG SERVICE.

I hate Best Buy. HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT.

I got $125 in Best Buy giftcards for crazymas. I went to the store today, for boxing day deals. Their anime section was poorly stocked - I'm not into most shows, but there was one from years ago that I wanted to rewatch - and so we asked someone to help us. Or rather, tried to. We tried talking to four ( Read more... )

See, shit like that is why I'll hand a cashier 1 gift card at a time. No chance of them pulling that shit.

Do you have the card #? call and report it stolen. :)

And WTF? Call the manager and speak to them about the shoddy service (and theft). Who knows, maybe this happens frequently with this cashier, and they're watching her.

I don't have the number sadly, and I don't even think my grampa still has any receipts or anything (they're the ones that gave me the card) I never peeled the sticky thing off the back.

I tried finding a phone number for the specific Best Buy before I even left for the store, so I could call ahead and see if they had what I needed, and I was unable. I might go there tomorrow, if you guys say it's worth going to a manager, I'll see if I can do that.

See comment below, I've had a bit of better luck with ours but their video collection's gotten a bit ragged of late and I've gotten better deals on hardware at other stores.

I've heard of so many horror stories involving tickets and black friday with multiple tickets randomly disappearing or minimizing to just one ticket that I only do one at a time as well.

Wouldn't help you much given the giftcards, but luckily we have a B&N right next to our Best Buy when they drop the ball.

Also a Borders across the street and up a ways, but they're finally going under for good next month.

The place where you live... it sounds very familiar.

Hehehe, I bet it does.

(Every time people bumrapped Borders in general, I always used to tell 'em our store was actually pretty cool and not like the others. Up till about 2 and a half years ago that was actually true, then they started dropping the ball on stuff fairly consistently, so this latest was more along the lines of the corpse finally ceasing to twitch than anything else.)

I dont understand why you let it drop. I would have asked to see a manager right then and there. They would have gone through every card in her bag (if like my store they keep all the cards theyre given) and inquiried them. Even now I would call back and talk to a manager about what happened. I know at my store we would make right with the situation.

I figured I had been an idiot and perhaps left it at home, I am a bit of an air head sometimes. I stated in a comment above, just a moment ago, that I can't seem to find the number for this particular Best Buy anywhere. If I'm able, I'll head back tomorrow and just explain to the manager what happened, although I don't know if it'll do any good after the fact.

She had all the used cards sprawled where her register was, underneath the screen thing.

I would for sure go back up there, and actually it would probably help you more than calling. I would bring the receipt too because they should be able to pull video footage of the transaction and possibly see her hide it. Either way at my store we would probably just issue you a new one.

Okay! I still have the receipt in the bag, as well as everything I bought so as soon as I can I'll head back up :) Thanks for the info!

That sucks so much, I hate Best Buy =/ The one I went to when my Harddrive fails just told me (without looking at it, or even really helping me) that it was "fried and they'd give me a new one"

Never looked at it to see if they could recover anything. Ugh.

I got my laptop from Best Buy and one time it caught on fire (the fan like over heated and it started smoking) and they took over 90 days to send it back :( Then tried telling me it wasn't under warranty DX

Also, is your icon from We Were There ??

They always take a long time to do anything. Sometimes it's just not even worth taking it in.

I have no idea where it's from, I cropped it off of a desktop wallpaper because it reminded me of my fiance and I :3

In the future, if you get any gift cards from Best Buy and want an older anime, just go to the website. It lacks the instant gratification, but the selection is far better. The last few years the fare at my own local Best Buy went from pretty good, to not so good, to impossible to find anything that isn't SUPER POPULAR. I already have DBZ and I can borrow Naruto, Bleach, and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood if I ever decide to watch those. That's pretty much the extent of it anymore.

I would either call or stop in to talk to the manager. The phone number should be at the top of your receipt. Be polite and non-accusatory about the mix up and loss of the fifth card.

I'm not sure what the cashier thinks calling the Best Buy company will do; as far as I know, they only send GCs to make irate customers complacent. "You owe me two dollars" is also an unprofessional way to say "Your balance is still two dollars" in my opinion.

I did not even KNOW I could buy things online with gift cards. That...ung. I would have done that instead, without a doubt. Augh! I want to smack myself now :(

I was trying to get the Gundam Wing series, but the OVA but they didn't have it...or Yu Yu Hakusho for that matter ;; ALL I saw was DBZ, FMA and Bleach.

Yes, it was rather unprofessional, and I try to be polite, but I sometimes get frustrated. Hopefully talking to a manager will prove to be less frustrating :)

<3 YYH. Do you have any local comic shops? Sometimes anime series can be cheaper there. DBZ is on sale at Future Shop for $20 (don't know if that's Canada ONRY or what). Gundam Wing was a pain for me :) I had to scour Toronto to find a decent price on half the set :o

Holy Hannah, you live in TO? I do as well. Future shop DID have DBZ for sale, but I'm not a big DBZ fan to be honest.

I know HMV has YYH but it's expensive as hell!! I only really ever go to Anime XTreme and Comics and More :/
