My Cataclysm related suck, let me tell you it!

So we pre-ordered Cataclysm Collector's Edition from Amazon on Sep 18th. No option was given for same day shipping when we pre-ordered. We took the free shipping, which was our mistake. The game was slated to arrive on December 26th, when Amazon finally had the release info

are you talking about a special edition ? I downloaded mine from Blizzard 4 days before today in a pre-buy for $40.

The physical CE came with extra things, like an art book, booster pack for the card game with a loot card and some other stuff. We also had terrible internet service in September and didn't think a download would go well. (Another suck on its own but not one I feel like posting about. We finally managed to get a new provider and all is well now.)

Yeah, I wish I had the $40 so we could just DL the game, but it would be pretty wasteful. And thank you!

Evidently there have been lots of issues with DL-ing the game today, hence why my boyfriend just ordered one. Blizzard isn't sure how quickly they're going to get resolved (as of a few hours ago), just an FYI you might not want to go that route.

I'm SO sorry you went through this. I went through this with the damn Lich expansion, WITH Amazon. They're real asshats at this kind of stuff. My situation was they let us order it, and then last minute told us sorry, we actually can't get that in....etc

So I had to do a last minute scramble to freaking get a copy shipped to an American friend and shipped up to Canada (for some reason none of the retailers in Canada had it but we could still secure 2 copies in the USA? Idk)...

Anyways, this year we did FutureShop. Right after ordering, the bf found out OH HEY, there's some free mousepad deal if you order it. We email them asking them to add it. They say oh no sorry, it's only if you pre-ordered after X point. We were quite wtf, but atleast they didn't cancel the order.

Sheesh. Can't win regardless of the company!!

God that reminds me of my bad_service experience with Amazon.. over WoW, actually, only six years ago.

My then wife and I ordered CE's of WoW from Amazon..

End of January, they still hadn't shipped. We gave up, got a refund and bought normal editions.

I don't know that you can really say your casual if you shelled out the extra for the CE version. I've heard the book is nice though. Amazon had all sorts of issues with the CE version and some of those were caused by Blizzard, who for some reason was really concerned that nobody got their copy early even though it wouldn't have done them any good in the game itself.

You pretty much nailed it right there; I collect art books. (And mini-pets. *shame*) And my husband really likes dragons, so... Yeah. Compared to my friend whose been on since 3:30 this morning and is still going, we can barely be considered gamers.

Reading the Amazon reviews for the CE is pretty entertaining!
