My Cataclysm related suck, let me tell you it!

So we pre-ordered Cataclysm Collector's Edition from Amazon on Sep 18th. No option was given for same day shipping when we pre-ordered. We took the free shipping, which was our mistake. The game was slated to arrive on December 26th, when Amazon finally had the release info

are you talking about a special edition ? I downloaded mine from Blizzard 4 days before today in a pre-buy for $40.

The physical CE came with extra things, like an art book, booster pack for the card game with a loot card and some other stuff. We also had terrible internet service in September and didn't think a download would go well. (Another suck on its own but not one I feel like posting about. We finally managed to get a new provider and all is well now.)

Hate to break it to you, the digital download is the data that's already been pushed down to your computers over the last month. All you were buying was the key to unlock it and it worked instantly (baring the issues with non-working keys due to a bug).

I went live with Cata about 15 minutes after the switchover time.

And in September it was taking days to download patches, due to our spotty connection. It was so bad at times that I was using a Droid as a wireless hot spot. I'd also planned to suspend my account until Cata, but ended up coming back in a bit early. Even a tiny bit of data off of the DVD seemed helpful.

Thankfully this is no longer an issue, and I was able to put in my code, install a small patch and get up and running.

Yeah, thank God I pre-ordered and downloaded everything like two weeks beforehand. I was worgen-ing it up almost immediately!
