You know what's really terrifying? I had a globalisation and culture prof show me one of Alex Jones's movies because he "wanted us to know how the world really was" Worst. Prof. Ever.

No. Fuck you. They did their jobs, and not a single person was hurt.

Love,
An actual New Yorker.

Hmmm. Yeah, the guys on the ground.

But what about command?

And -in address to other commenters- ~officially~, it's still an actual attempt to set off a bomb (however inept).

I really want to formulate a reply to this comment, but there's a rule against ad hominem attacks here and most of what I want to say is filled with them. So I'll sum up: You should probably just stop posting.

Get over yourself, please. The NYPD did their jobs and did them well with a minimum of fuss.

Seriously. Go watch a 9/11 Conspiracy video or something.

What's this? A game of telephone involving all of Times Square leading to the mass of public sitting safely behind barriers and drinking their McFlurries spreading rumors and misinformation?

Who would have thought?

PS a drill in a major economic/entertainment/business center that none of the businesses in the area are informed of on a busy, warm Saturday night?

Right.

Yeah, I don't think so. Have a less biased source?

And as for not evacuating the buildings (ie: Broadway theatres), the people were much safer IN the building, than if they had been running on the street, and causing mass chaos.

The cops did their jobs, and well.

ETA: I just loooooooovvvveeee how someone in Alabama is criticizing the NYPD. STFU.

*sigh* We have had illegal d.u.i. roadblocks and searches by the Jefferson County Sheriffs Dept. down here so yup, we've got something to be critcizing "our own" about too.

The trouble is, whenever you enter a state, municipality, county, etc. you are then entering a situation of directly or indirectly being a customer of that government's law enforcement organization(s)...

Have I ever been in NYC other than a layover at JFK airport? No.

Am I gonna tell you to eat a bag of dead dog sphincters if you criticize Crackingham's, Jeffco's, or any other of Hellabama's law enforcement orgs? No.

I flew out of JFK the morning after. It seemed most people didn't even know.

I had to explain it to my grandmother the next morning. And except for a few people on Facebook posting about it, I probably would have had no idea if my friend and I weren't craving cupcakes on our way back from Jersey.
