BPW was probably new and on a power trip.

But seriously? Accusing me of trying to cash counterfeit money orders? Like I'd take my infant daughter into an incredibly busy post office and risk being carted away by police for doing something stupid like that.

Don't you watch the news? This is exactly what criminals do. They use their kids to look innocent. Granted the first woman could have been nicer but if she couldn't find the watermark and they have had bad money orders before according to the other woman, she had a reason to be suspicious. She didn't know you and that you were honest so I can't blame her for following the rules so she didn't lose her job.

Following the rules is good, but couldn't she have used a little tact? Yelling out that they were counterfeit and making a fuss infront of others in line is a tad rude and a bit of a power trip.

Oh I agree and that's why I said she could have been nicer about it but I don't see anything wrong with her following the rules and waiting until her boss got there.

For sure the service was extremely sucky, but "Like I'd take my infant daughter into an incredibly busy post office and risk being carted away by police for doing something stupid like that" is not a good reason for the post office worker NOT to be suspicious.

I wonder if she does that often, just to entertain herself. Either that or she's been caught out by counterfeit money orders before, and is just automatically suspicious about every single one she sees that doesn't have a clear watermark.

Still, total retard.

did you follow up with the post office the following day to see if the "manager" even looked at the money orders?

what really sucks is despite not really being a gov't agency, it is still next to impossible to get a bad postal worker fired. They have more appeals than a union worker :-/

ok, she might have a reason to be suspicious but it seems she went into major bad mood as soon as you put your daughter up on the counter (even with keeping a hand on her just in case she squirmed)

please do at least file a complaint against her. It won't get her fired but it *does* factor into other considerations, like how high on the vacation pole she is.

(or alternately, (and this wasn't clear from the post) rude postal lady may have been a sub or transfer from another branch and hadn't readjusted her style to fit the new branch (maybe, maybe, maybe)

She wasn't new. I sell on eBay quite often and I'd been to that post office many times before and seen her there. She always has a bit of an attitude but never like that. Also, I'm on my iPod so I'll respond to another post up there as well. The suck obviously didn't come from her doing her job (checking for a watermark, checking with her boss). It came from the attitude and accusing me of trying to cash fake money orders. I honestly didn't know fake money orders was lucrative business. I always thought it was checks and real cash so I was completely taken aback by the whole thing. Plus my daughter is a porker and soooo hard to hold for that long. :P

Were they USPS money orders? I cash those at my work occasionally and there's a number we have to call to verify that they are valid and have not been cashed. If that's the case, it could have saved a lot of trouble.

But I am super glad to hear that it eventually worked out. That woman was absolutely ridiculous.

They were. We couldn't get one from Wal- Mart or anywhere else because I don't have a checking account, so he got it from the USPS in Beckley, WV.

See, then I don't understand why she couldn't have called that number to determine validity. Sure, they're easy to counterfeit, but if they came up in the system as okay, then there shouldn't have been a problem. Maybe the actual post office doesn't do that, but who knows.
