I really wish Comcast didn't have a monopoly around here. Since I've been paying the bill at my parents' house, to now living on my own, it's been mediocre with intermittent spectacular moments ( Read more... )

Are you saying you got a returned check fee and they never tried to debit your account resulting in your not-a-bank turning them down? They're saying you essentially bounced an electronic check, and your statements show no debits from them at all, whether successful or failed ( ... )

You're not wrong at all. D: I'd credit that in a heartbeat, because of the circumstances that are associated with it. Good grief, what idiot reps have you been talking with? Yes, we have guidelines and restrictions that we're bound to (*cough* can you tell who I work for?) and sometimes our computers lock us out of stuff, but in that situation, you deserve a refund. Absolutely and completely.

Don't give up on this, but don't yell, please. ^^; If you snag someone with brains and you have your backup, then we'll be more than willing to help you. I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience with this. D:

There's that old thing about banks and rounding errors and if you took all of the little rounded off bits, you'd be reached. Them charging you $4 now, when they *didn't* do anything to charge you for, kinda reminds me of that. if you let this slide, they'll keep doing it and make a lot of money from it

Just a FYI, but if the routing or account number is incorrect, then the payment would be returned but would NOT show up on your account. I did this while trying to set up an automatic debit (I have 2 checking accounts and mixed up the routing numbers), and my payment was returned because they couldn't find the account, so nothing ever came up on the account itself.

I'm not completely clear on the chain of events here (which transaction was the returned check fee for?). I'm just saying it IS possible to have a payment returned without it showing up on your account. :)

That's right. If the information is incorrect, and the account can not be located to complete the transaction, then they also cannot find the account to make a notation on it.

Let me make sure I understand: You set up an online billpay thing, and the payment didn't go through?

Because if you set it up online, and the wrong information was entered, well, then, it was your fault, plain and simple. No one is at fault for entering incorrect bank account information but yourself. And the Return Check fee is proper.

Further, the company would apply the Return Check fee because even though it didn't go through, the company assumed it was good and paid for all the processes etc to get it to go through, and then have it returned--and was charged fees of their own when your payment returned, which is passed on to you.

Sucky situation, but, not Comcast's fault. If I'm understanding correctly.
