The $41.65 Charge I Did NOT Make!!!!!!

OK so here is the way it went...

I went online to check and see if my direct deposit had cleared the bank yet.  I need to keep check at all times on what has cleared the bank and when as I will be moving soon and need to know when it is safe to close the account and how much I have left to do things with.  That being said I checked the balance ( Read more... )

read the fine print, this deer is desiccated, caution: direct attacks, butthurt, mod having too much fun with tags, don't know how u do the voodoo that u do, mod freeze, automatic payments, employees speaking lolcat(?)

Yeah me too. I will watch those bank statements even closer from now on. Like I say, they are good to refund it but something down deep says it could have been prevented, ya know?

Yep. I guess I am one of those that could not sleep at night if I did that to someone.

I don't see the bad service.

It's pretty typical for services like this to auto renew. I'm sure it's written somewhere in the agreement that you had to mark "I agree" to when you first purchased the product.

Plus you are getting your money back. 5 days is nothing. It has to process through their system. The guy you talked to more than likely doesn't have the authority to cut you a check. I'm pretty sure it all has to go through some sort of process to make sure their customer service people don't start giving out refunds to just anyone (you know.. like themselves, family, or friends).

I went over my agreement that I put in the file cabinet. I have to have a copy of these things. I sure did not see any auto renew on it before I called. I have worked in CS before. Just seems that 3 days is plenty of time considering that they only needed one day to pull my money out without warning. But I am probably still a bit heated. I see your point.

Interesting...

I just wonder why they would bill so far in advance when I am not due for a renew for a month or more from the time it cleared my bank. I guess I can't get over the "no warning bit".

Thanks for info though

You're doing a stellar job there warning people about...oh...wait. Apparently you couldn't be bothered to think up a company name to accompany your tale.

What company was it? I renewed my Norton online and it was stated that it will automatically charge my credit card again in a year, but I had the option of filling out a form to cancel the auto-renew. At least you are getting your money back.

MacAfee did something similiar to my mom. TWO YEARS after she canceled their service they charged her bank card for a year and REFUSED to refund her. They caused her bank account to overdraft.

That five business days *isn't really up to the company, that is the time it takes your bank to process the refund. It sucks, yes but it's not the company trying to dick you.

Depending on your actual bank, it may just show up ASAP :)

My credit union doesn't dick around when it comes to depositing/withdrawing from my account. Unlike my Washington Mutual account...that one takes forever it seems. I made a cash deposit on Friday and it took until today to clear! O_O

Mine has been a great bank. I hate to leave them. *moving out of the country* I will miss them so! They usually don't wait around either so yeah you could be right, maybe sooner. :)
