"you're too young to need them."

A post someone made here a few days ago reminded me of one of my very few bad service stories.

Note: this happened a bit over a year ago, I think. At the very least, it happened before pharmacists could refuse to fill prescriptions. Also, this gentleman was NOT a pharmacist.

Edited to add: This guy was probably about my age. He wasn't -that- ( Read more... )

stupid ageism

So they are promoting unsafe sex for very young girls? Girls these days have sex as young as twelve. I would rather them be protected if they were going to do it at that age than unprotected. What the flippin' hell.

This makes me die a little. Especially as the mother of a 5 month old baby girl.

(In reality I know it happens...but ugh)

Yea, it kinda kills me a little on the inside. Just make sure she's aware of her natural body changes, and keep the lines of communication open :)

Seriously?! That's just ... wrong on so many levels. Sounds more like he had a personal issue with the sale, since there is no legally enforceable age limit on condoms unlike .... cigs or alcohol. And if it was personal, he was way the hell outta bounds.

I would have spoken to the manager and shown your ID to get this sorted out. The man was an idiot and only management (not the customer) can fix that.

I should have. Normally I'm pretty good at confrontation, and handling stuff like this myself.

Not so much on showing my ID though. I -don't- look under age, and even if I did, there's no age limit on condoms, as far as I know.

Regardless, I should have said something. I opted for not shopping there, at least.

Screw showing ID. There's not an age limit on condom purchases - it's none of his business how old you are. I'd have raised holy hell about it, myself.

Depends where you live. In some US states it's 18.
