Several people suggested I post this, it's great for opinions; and I agree. You don't have to be a prude to make a simple suggestion that maybe things be kept toned down on a pg-13 forum.

As for telling me not to come back, that's a bit rude. I happen to like people on the site just fine. I simply don't agree with the way this situation is handled. And I'm free to talk about it here.

THIS SO MUCH

I am not a prude, hell my friend shares porn he drew of our characters with me all the time, but he shares it privatly and the pictures or mention therof never see the light of day in public. But I have my limits in public, GDI.

Also most characters in an rp I am fuck each other all the time and talk about it in public. I'm sitting her with my character who has only banged her boyfriend once looking at them going, "O....kay....". There's more to rp than sex, y'know.

Which is why I made my newest character asexual and not wanting to get in a relationship in general(Not because she's asexual but from what she's experienced it leads to a lot of pain and misery for most people.)

It's a rant site, Mary. Several people suggested I post this, it's great for opinions; and I agree. You don't have to be a prude to make a simple suggestion that maybe things be kept toned down on a pg-13 forum ( ... )

Yeah. When I look at an rp site, I look at the cbox to gauge the maturity levels of the rpers and the general attituide. If I see such frank sexual like that discussion I hit that back buttom ASAP.

It simply sounds like you were not a good fit for this site. I personally don't mind graphic talk, and yes while Invisionfree says it's for PG-13 themes, people aren't going to follow it. It happens with everything. They rarely go waltzing into forums that use their services, as it seems they just don't care much.

For some people, they like to RP sex. If it's what they like RPing then I see no reason to bother them about it unless they are flat out harassing you to join them.

I don't think anyone is in the wrong here. It's just a matter of two things not fitting.

Agreed. This seems like a YMMV thing to me.

Yea, some may be fine with it, and if they are, cool they will fit in. There's nothing wrong with it. Sometimes you don't fit in somewhere, it isn't the end of the world.

You have a good point on one end. I don't mind that people enjoy graphic talk, or rp'ing sex. Cbox is just not the place for it. I realize that people aren't always going to follow up on the rules. But neither do I want to see the site reported, shut down, or looked upon badly by new prospective members looking for a good site to join.

I am not the only one of this opinion, I asked a few different people who are all very different in the levels of what they are comfortable with and the three people I queried all agreed that it is inappropriate to be talking about it in that manner in cbox. I don't agree with the seeming rise of people wanting everyone to sleep with everyone else...I think that's a bit much but it's not really what bothered me.

I like the people fine, and the RP that I do with them. But being told to leave the cbox if I don't like what I see when it's not even me who has a problem with it but it's a concern for the site's well being in general was rather an unpleasant bit. The prude bit kind of bugged me too.

FYI, the comments regarding censorship were unrelated to your hissyfit. Thanks for trying to stretch the truth to look like a martyr, though.

It's not a 'martyr' matter...and they were right after, so misunderstandings happen. It's a matter of someone making a valid suggestion about toning something down because the cbox is public and people all jumping in to try and act like they're being prudish or that they are not mature enough to deal with something when it has nothing to do with it. It's not whether or not I have an issue with it. I'm It's how people looking at the site will see it coming into a cbox conversation with things like that being written. It looks bad, and it could get the site into trouble with Invisionfree. I have seen a site shut down for the same reason a couple years back. Cbox conversation that was not pg-13. The occasional commentary or joke is fine within reason. Not to that extent.

FYI, the smart thing would have been to take this to the admins privately.

Not have a hissy fit because your self-insertion character didn't impress a Gold, and then invade our cbox with your conservative ideologies. What you attempted to do is slut-shame. And I don't think a humorous conversation about masturbation is shameful in the slightest. I feel sorry for you, that you're so embarrassed by the thought that you can't have an open conversation about it.

Before this conversation took place, we said multiple warnings that it would be inappropriate. It is your own fault that you stayed to read it, and you have no right to be offended by it. As for the altruistic nonsense, that you worry about how it will make our site look, it's more like you feel uncomfortable with it.

As was stated, you've been here for 3 months. You know by now that we occasionally have inappropriate cbox conversations. If you can't live with that, then don't let the door hit you on the way out. We are not interested in being proselytized.

I'm not sure who you're talking about, but I don't /have/ any self-insertion characters. Not a single character I have is in any way like me save maybe 'she likes to draw' or something. Who said anything about 'shameful'? It's not shameful, and I Feel sorry for you that you're entirely missing the whole point of the OP. And no, FYI I'm not the one feeling uncomfortable about it. I'm uncomfortable about who ELSE will feel uncomfortable seeing it. It's called thinking about other people who aren't yourself. Because some people do that.

Inappropriate in varying degrees. This was enough of a degree that I politely suggested it be toned down for the sake of people, because there are people, who are not comfortable with it. I was told said site is considerate and the objective is for everyone who comes to it to feel welcome. Well...there are people who will see that and be offended and not feel like they would fit in or be welcome. Mature forums are there for a reason, and I'd probably have no problem reading or using them.

I /also/ thought it prudent to add? I didn't apply for gold. Not with ONE character. I stated outright in the cbox I don't WANT a gold on this site. So your statement is moot there. And again, it's not me who was offended. u_u;
