Bringing up a character's sexuality in a public setting, out of the blue, with no tie-in to the current conversation, and knowing that character is uncomfortable with letting everyone around her know she likes girls, all so that your character can mention how they don't have any problem with it?

Not cool. So not cool.

dumbass, characterization fail

D: Awk-ward.

Is it IC for the other character to be so hung up on their own ~inclusiveness~ that they trample on people's feelings or is this an OOC problem?

My thoughts exactly. I can see this still being IC. The fact it ended up here suggests it probably wasn't, though.

Yeah. Unfortunately... yeah.

I'm sorry, OP, that's just fail.

It's IC for them to be impressed with their own inclusiveness, but not for them to bring it up out of the blue. It's a character that is quite full of himself, but who does still have pretty good social skills. This situation in particular just came off as the player going "Look! LOL, isn't he great!"

That's definitely awkward. I wonder if it's anywhere near as bad as the time someone wondered to the mods whether anyone would have a problem with them playing their character as gay, and one of said mods assumed that this meant they were 'turning' the character gay, instead of them having been gay all along...leading to a mountain of misunderstanding, awkward, and massive suck.

Is the character bringing this up a jerk and/or troll?

Because if so it seems perfectly IC to try and make people feel awkward and bad.

Pretty sure that answers that.

At which the character should reply (loudly) "And I have no issue with your love of dressing in tutus and taking baths in jell-o while taping it on the net to make extra cash."
