Them demins is srs bizness

I play in a WoW guild whose plot centers around killing all these unbound disguised demons who have recently infested my server and for some reason have found myself on the pointy end of the general Sharpened Broom Handle 'o Server Hatred. I mean in the sort of way where I am now a bad person in real life because we killed your half-demon, ( Read more... )

Fighting bad RP with another kind of bad RP results in drama? Well I never.

Are there more LOLDEMINZ than LOLVAMPYREZ in WoW nowadays? I recently got back into it but haven't ventured into the cities yet.

Honestly, I think a guild dedicated to exterminating these players is probably giving them a weird kind of positive reinforcement with all the attention, but I dunno. I'd suggest trying to ignore all the unbound demons or liches or vampire ninja werewolf shark wizards from the moon, but I suppose it would be kind of hard to do that IC when they're talking in demonic tongues out in public and boasting about how evil and demonic they are.

Except if they had their character deliberately avoid speaking in Demonic where it would be otherwise appropriate because your character is present it would be A) Metagaming and possibly B) Require clairvoyance, unless you put it in your RSP in which case C) you're doing it wrong in more ways than one.

I know that lots of WoW RP is really trite but when you're in a guild that's basically dedicated to griefing people whose RP is sort of lame? Yeah, THEY'RE not the bad RPers for not responding when you spontaneously try to murder them after a business-as-usual demon summoning in a silvermoon tavern.

We don't mind the people who are actually keeping it secret, except we've run across only one of them. All the other ones are wandering around with horns/wings/hooves/whatnot saying "I'm the child of a demon!" and talking in demonic. Those are the ones we focus our characters on. Not the ones who only have it mentioned in their RSP.

Besides, we're not griefing them. My character hates demons for good reasons, so she's fighting them. I always let the person I'm RPing with decide whether or not they want the character to die. I allow for godmoding in situations where unless they godmoded they would die. I don't have a problem with these people OOCly and often try to keep up friendly conversations with them OOC. Unfortunately most of the time we're greeted with hostility because...I don't know.

... Because you're deliberately singling out a group of players that already gets a bunch of shit from all the people running pregnancy plots and pretending they are ~so much better than that~?

I'm not quite sure what the issue is. They can RP a demon, but I can't RP a character who hates demons and would want to kill them? If they do that in character then they should expect and in character reaction, and not take it out on my OOCly. I can understand if they're new to RP and we often try to talk this out to them OOCly trying to help them, but most of the time we get ignored for whatever reason.

You mean there are consequences for anything in WoW?

And don't worry about the people calling you a bad rper. Some people believe that if you don't spell out every detail of a situation in a 10 page essay you must be hiding something.

Yes, don't worry about the peple saying you're a bad role play - no one really believes that a Role Playing Guild made for the express purpose of going after one character type, simply because you do not like it or think its an overused type etc is bad role playing - not at all!

On a far more serious note: If the concept of any character type or race not falling into the strictest interpretation of existing lore is alien to you - especially in an open environment (like WoW and others, where the lore writer[s] do not say "This is how it is and no other way"): Don't Role Play. Anywhere. At All.

Yes, because acting upon lore for RP, such as killing demons that have basically raped your world, is totally bad RP.

And yes, in most situations demons AND WARLOCKS do not announce themselves lore-wise, for fear of being killed. Heck, there are quests to take out disguised demons and a warlock quest to kill a Stormwind noble that has discovered the hiding place of warlocks in the city.

Wait, you're right, warlocks and demons should be walking hand in hand with shamans, druids, and paladins and frollick among the flowers, right? And Night Elves marrying Human Warlocks should be totally common and have no IC consequences like having your ass tossed out of Darnassus.

Blood elves were mentioned, and there's a great deal more tolerance for black magic in Silvermoon. In any case it's metagaming to know this shit and killing warlocks certainly isn't legal within either the Horde or the Alliance.
