What do you expect? The whole furry fandom went from being an interesting artistic movement producing some awesome comics to focusing on actually being furries and a pretty unhealthy sexualization of such. Of course furcadia will reflect that.

I'd hardly describe the whole fandom as thinking we're actually animals and having sexual adventures of an extreme sense.

I roleplay as anthropormophic animals, from time to time. That places me in the 'furry' fandom, but you're not going to find me in a fursuit anytime soon. I like being human!
I do know fursuiters, but most of them would never even imagine trying to do anything sexual in 'em - they're giant mascot costumes covered in fur. You'd overheat! And they'd be expensive to dryclean, too ( ... )

Hehe, I like you. I have a friend who will rant, at length, about the differences between anthros, fursuiters, and furries. And then she'll wish meteors upon the apparently small percentage that have ruined her fandom. (For the record, she's a fursuiter/mascot person who HATES the freaky sexualization of the fur community.)

The Short Version of her rant: Anthros- people who either play anthro chars or like anthro art. Fursuiters- those who do mascot-type things; they just like fuzzy and cute. (I have great respect for them, but I firmly believe they're all insane.) Furries- DX, go away, we don't want you!

Hrm. I'm not quite sure I agree with that system; certainly there are degrees of furry-ness, but ultimately, a lot of 'em cross over. Besides, in the mainstream world, all of us who have anything to do with fuzzy-human/animals are furries, like it or not.

There's nothing wrong with that, or with the label. Some people are just more insane about it than others - rather like fundamentalists or radical religious folk.

You might get lumped in with the crazy mouthspouters that you keep hearing about initially, but ultimately, it's your own behavior that determines how people will look at you, and through your behavior that they'll judge the rest of the people in the group.
