i think the cross cantering/ridiculousness might have been a little nit picky..... but so am i. that girl couldn't buy a lead change with her last dollar.

the xc schooling was SO SCARY. that horse is gonna tear something jumping corners like that. and i think that last picture is just draw reins and a standing martingale..... why you would NEED those htings concurrently is beyond me.........

eta: sorry i didn't mean to reply to yours!! let the record show this is a general comment.

Ah, thanks for clearing up the uber-tack picture. I genuinely couldn't tell what was going on there.

when that horse basically stepped on that jumped i gasped so loud my boyfriend jumped! and i think there must be more to that rigging than just a standing and draw reins...i thought that too, but i see the standing, plus count SIX reins! wtf...

Ugh, this post is breaking my brain. That XC school was honestly horrifying. The fact that people who ride as passively/terribly as that girl are told "yeah, it's definitely okay for you to school this stuff!" will never stop boggling my mind. Accident waiting to happen, jesus.

Did anyone catch the audio in the first clip at about 0:12 where the trainer keeps literally yelling "RIP HIS MOLARS OUT NOW! RIP HIS MOLARS OUT!"... Horrifying!

I did. I had a trainer say that to another student in group lesson (first month under trainer, last lesson on the month).
I got off, walked up to the man, told him, "you're a pathetic excuse for a coach if you think 'rip his teeth out' is valid teaching, and you will not be seeing any more of my family's money. I'll be cooling out my horse and leaving."
And I did. And I shared it with every single horse person I'm friends with as well.

They should be shot. Or at least lose the right to own and ride and train horses.
And we wonder why we have so many heavy handed riders.

I thought the first horse would have produced a far smoother performance if the rider hadn't been sitting as as if she was begging him NOT to jump the fences! Hanging off the mouth is clearly luncay but that's all she is doing- and now I know why! I have no sound.

Am I the only one that thinks the horse in the 2nd video probably needs some chiropractic work? I also want him to do "the leg thing" in the camera girls mouth so she will stop giggling like a idiot.

Yeah. I'd definitely guess it was a pain issue.

That second horse looks sore to me. Horses that just don't like the feeling of the girth tightening will bite, which he didn't even try. Horses where tightening the girth/mounting physically hurts them will kick. In my experience, anyway. And he doesn't even look cranky--he looks frightened.

Honestly, the cross-cantering is the last thing that bothered me in that video. She had no body control, not even on the flat. Horse had no rhythm, and she didn't even ask for it, just hauled on the horse's face. Then she was unprepared when the horse took off. Not surprised she got tossed over a fence. At least she released.

Those last two videos... Why would these kids even be jumping a course like that of any height if they can't even keep a canter?

Horse in the second video looked pretty frightened to me, too.
